I love this watch, especially the feature where you can set the timer for 1, 3, 5, 10 minutes...comes in handy while cooking. I kept buying the black version with the rubber wrist strap, which kept breaking every 2 years and I mean that literally...I looked up my amazon orders and I bought this same watch every 2 years x 3. The rubber version also got a bit stinky if I wore it to tightly against my skin, especially since I'm an avid gym rat. So this stainless steel version was a welcome change. The band seems more sturdy (I will check in and update this review after it surpasses the 2 year mark, it's been 5 months so far) and it fits perfectly...a little loose without being annoying and without the annoying smell! I wear it in the shower, at the gym, and rarely take it off. It's small and classy, good for basic needs.
Good value for a digital
A couple days ago I looked at my Casio watch and the battery had finally died. I hadn't replaced the battery yet since I bought it so I checked when I did buy this here on Amazon, and it was 2011!!! So this watch went through 7 years of a lot of use and abuse and wear and tear, including some wet conditions, all without a hiccup or need for a replacement battery until now. This watch had replaced a similar-looking Timex digital that I had for over 20 years (replacing the battery and wristband over the years) that finally died for good. The wristband on this one is still going strong for now. So definitely recommend and now time to find a battery!

It is a small watch but that's exactly what I wanted since I have a very small wrist. It seems durable and it looks great with everything. The band is adjustable which is great because you don't have to remove screws or such for it to fit. The only downside is that it tends to pull the little hairs on my arm when it slides up and down, but it's nothing that bothers me too much. Also, adjusting it may be a pain because once you open the clasp it's extremely hard to close. Other than that, I love it.

I love this watch! I basically wanted a “men’s” watch, but small. I have now purchased two of them. The first one I stepped on and bent part of the band, so when the battery died, I replaced it. It was still usable though. It got a little scratched up, but I was not gentle with it, so I would say it holds up really well and is durable. My second one is still going strong and I purchased it at least a couple of years ago, I believe. I use the timer on it frequently as I have no sense of time, and it can help keep me on track. I don’t use the alarm, I’d rather set alarms on my phone. Kids love pushing the buttons because they beep. Since they beep, you can set a timer without looking at it if you remember the options. I do often bump the buttons and set a timer on accident, but I’m a klutz and bump into things, so that might just happen to me. The beeps aren’t super loud, but for what I use it for, I wouldn’t want something too interruptive. I can use it at work without it being a problem. I absolutely love this watch and will buy it again and again if anything happens to it!

I've had this watch for over a year and it's still working without any problems. It's on the small side which I love because I'm not into large clunky watches. I feel like this is a unisex watch regardless if you get it in silver or gold, mine is in silver because a majority of my jewelry is silver. I wear this watch everywhere from school, to going to events or parties with friends. So it really is a great watch for almost any occasion or just for a casual day as well. I have received many compliments from people throughout the year both from younger people my age and older people as well who say they had a similar watch when they were growing up and they like to reminisce about it. So overall it's a great watch, however the only compliant I have is that occasionally the clasp that keeps the watch secured on my wrist will unclasp, but that's not a frequent thing so it hardly bothers me at all. With that being said the watch has never fallen off in the year that I've worn it, which has been almost every day and I've also gotten this watch wet a number of times. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes this style or as a fun gift to someone. I will reorder this watch once the one that I currently have dies, which probably won't be for a long time.

I bought two casios just like this model but in gold about 4-5 years ago and they still look good and work just as well. So I decided to buy a silver one.
It was a bit harder to adjust it o my wrist than with the last two, but nothing to be bothered about. It looks just as good as I expected. I love the size and the color. It looks great with any outfit. It's just perfect for daily use.
Great Watch for Busy People
I truly love this watch. I have been buying this watch over and over again for over 10 years. The beauty of this watch is the instant timer feature. It works in specific intervals of minutes: 1, 3, 5,10,15, 20 & 30. This is great for reminding you about certain tasks without too much fidgeting around with the watch features. You just press one button and the timer is activated. I also like the stainless steel wristband which is customizable and sturdy. This watch also has alarm and stopwatch features. My only concern, and this is not about the watch itself, is that when you need to change the battery, if it is not done exactly right, it can affect the timer feature and stop it from working correctly. I also wish it had a night light feature. Otherwise this is an amazing watch for a great price.

I needed a new everyday watch. I wanted something that was nice looking that would go anywhere but I really wanted it to have a stopwatch function. Most nicer watches simply tell the time and most feature watches are plastic and a bit bulky ( great watches but not the look I wanted) This little watch really is the best of both worlds. Its sleek, minimalist design looks right with any outfit and any occasion. I love the contrast of the black face against the gleaming stainless steel band. It is a small watch but I certainly don't think it's too small. I have small wrists so it's perfectly in proportion. However, if you're accustomed to larger watches but love the style, you may want to check out Casio's medium and larger watches. But I thinks the smaller size (about one inch square) and the square shape with the gently rounded corners looks very elegant.
But the best part is that instead of just telling time, day and date, this watch has a few extra features normally found on sports watches. It has am hourly chime, a basic stopwatch (it times up to an hour and starts over from zero--no lap timer) and an instant timer with 7 preset timers from 1 minute to 30 minutes. This is a lot handier that I imagined it would be.
So, are there and cons? As others have mentioned, it would be nice to have a backlight. And the display digits are a bit small. It would be nice if they were just a tad larger and/or bolder. Just one more thing... The alarm/timer is not very loud. this is fine for at home and great for not disturbing others. However, I cannot hear it in a noisy environment.
Overall, I am very happy with this watch.
Awesome watch for someone with metal allergies
I love this watch so much! I’m allergic to cheap metals so needed a watch that’s hypoallergenic. Even leather watch bands with metal clasps break me out. I have scoured the web for a small women’s digital stainless stee watch, and this is the only one I have found other than a smart watch, which is overkill. I like the basic retro functions like alarm, stop watch, etc., small face and digital display. This is perfect! It is water resistant but not water proof. It is not fire resistant, so don’t drop on a hot pan and forget it, which is what I did! I’ll am on my second watch only due to my own stupidity! I also have one in black rubber, and it has a light you can press to read the watch in the dark. I love them both! Definitely recommend!

I have purchased this watch twice now. It is perfect for working as an SLP, because of the automatic mini timers of 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 minutes.
The screen is a little small and hard to read sometimes and it does not have a back light. It also has a timer, however it only goes to 60 minutes and will just turn back to 00:00 & start all over again just running in the background if you forget. The buttons sometimes can be hard to push -this is about the women’s sized watch.
Even despite it’s minor flaws, it is beyond worth it for the price and functionality, especially for someone who has difficulty innately ‘feeling’ the passage of time

I've also started using it to time sharing with the kids :) I also really appreciate that you can adjust the band yourself and you don't have to take it to a jeweler, but the watch itself is also made of metal links or it's very well made. LOVE this watch. Took me a while to find it. I have small hands and wrists. I also work in a lab so I needed a watch with a timer because I juggle several experiments. I don't like the plastic look of sport watches and most of them are so large. I wasn't expecting much when I purchased it as it has preset time points (30, 20, 15, 10, 5, 3 and 1 minutes). I was hoping for a watch with a traditional timer where you can set the timer and watch it count down, but all those intervals work for pretty much everything I do. It is also really convenient to set. I do have to reset for 1 hour or 45 minutes, but that's my one of only two complaints I have. I also don't like that I can't see exactly how much time I have left. As it counts down you can see a bar blink under the corresponding time interval. So if it is blinking at 20 minutes I know I have between 20-15 minutes left. Not that big of a deal tho. It fits well tho and I love the look of it! Will definitely purchase again and hopefully next time it'll have 45 minutes and 1 hour intervals!

This watch has one feature I miss as soon as I am not wearing it. You can easily set a timer for 1, 3, 5,10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes. I used to own this watch in gold, but after a few years some malfunction occurred and it would just beep ALL THE TIME, so I stopped wearing that one. When I started looking for replacements, I knew immediately that I wanted another Casio because I've never been happier with any other watch. I decided on this one in silver since my taste for gold has severely diminished since I bought my last watch (when I was 18, it lasted until I was 22). It's just as striking as ever. Same thing I loved about my old watch: its delicate, feminine and classic while having a digital screen, which is nearly impossible to find. With classic watches it's easy enough to find, but I find them irritating because most have 4 dots for time discernment at 12, 3, 6 and 9. Not the kind of accuracy I'm looking for. Maybe I'm uptight, but I prefer to know exactly what time it is and so I prefer digital. Which becomes the next problem with most other digital watches: they're clunky and generally made in a sports style that's not nearly polished enough for everyday. But this watch goes everywhere with me: to work, on a walk, to the store, to occasions and you never feel like it's out of place at that place and time and never clashes with your other jewelry. It's so universal and I wear it so often that I literally feel naked without it.
Some people might be put off by the slip on loose style, but I really prefer it. Much better than the hard to put on than the hole and pin kinds, which look ok as long as you're suffocating your wrist and look haphazard if you loosen it comfortably because then it slides around and it's not a look designed for that. It's just like wearing a bracelet, but if you want to know the time at worst you'll have to grab the time piece to bring it into view, though usually a flick of the wrist is good enough. Small price.
And speaking of, the price of this piece is an absolute steal. I've seen less elegant Casio watches being sold on other sites for upwards of $100. And people happily pay it and review it much the same as here: positively. Because it's high quality. I wish those poor people knew they could get it for under $20 on here, but hey, if they're happy. If you're reading this, I don't know why you wouldn't give it a try. There are literally no downsides to this watch and I will last you years without even lightening your wallet. Plus, no one will ever know how much it costs, but will certainly not think it's cheap or cheap looking. I swear there's actually a Casio following, since whenever someone else with a Casio watch spots mine they always hold out their wrist, point at their watch, then mine and say "nice watch". This has happened to me more than once. Though I understand because typically the only other watches I notice are when I spot someone else's Casio. I'll catch myself admiring it and then I'll see that it's a Casio. It's a pride piece, that good find that happens all too rarely. Go ahead and get it. $16 isn't exactly a gamble. I promise you, this one is a sure thing.

First started wearing this style 20 years ago. Its a great watch. The band can be adjusted very easily for a perfect fit, and it can be clasped on to your wrist without any help. The watch is very stylish and goes with everything Im wearing. It comes in gold tone also but I only wear silver, so cant comment on the look of the gold tone. The silver or stainless never wears off, and it always retains a new appearance. It has a daily alarm, a date setting and stopwatch timer. But the best feature for me is the minute timer. You can set this timer with one button clicking to time 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes. I use this feature constantly, to time so many things. You would be surprised how many things you need to time for just a minute or two, or 5 or 10 etc, and you can go about your business and not worry about being in the same room if you set the stove timer or the dryer for 10 minutes or so to take out clothes to avoid shrinking etc. If Im driving I may set it to remind me to do something when I get home. Like I said it is the most useful little timer on this watch and I have never found another watch that is so attractive to wear that can do this. I get a new battery ever year or two when it needs it. I only purchased a new one because I misplaced my old one that Ive had for 20 years. Which I since have found. So now I have two. The price is so reasonable and it was shipped so fast.

It doesn't have the light up screen which is the only downside. I work in the water as a tour guide and this watch lasted longer than the classic resin Casio which was very surprising. Spend the six or so extra dollars to get this one it will last longer and looks a lot classier and more unique than others. I honestly never took it off because of the combination of comfort as well as loving the retro vibe that goes with any outfit. Very classic, I will continue to buy even if I become a millionaire.

This watch stands up to daily use for years. My last order was in 2014. The one improvement I’d like to see is the option for back lighting - it’s helpful to have in those dimly lit rooms. Once I figured out a way to ‘cut’ off the extra length of watch band it felt like a better fit - I didn’t see this addressed in the booklet.
All that said, I was still so glad to see the watch was on the market when I needed a new one!!

I have worn a model (black or silver, but it also comes in gold) of this watch for more than 30 years. I have often bought more than one at a time because I live in fear that Casio will someday discontinue it. Except for very rare dress-up occasions, I wear this watch 24/7, even when bathing, or swimming. Each watch has lasted me at least 3 years under rigorous use conditions. Eventually a band wears out or a battery goes dead, but for a $16 watch who can complain? --I haven't had great luck with replacement batteries because once the case is open other things seem to go wrong.
When I was younger, I constantly wore a black one even though it was too sporty for many occasions. I was delighted the first time I found the silver one, which was still cheap looking, but was at least a little dressier and matched my other silver jewelry. I'd love a better looking watch or one with a light but what I can't live without is this watch's timer function.
The watch has an instant timer for 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 minute intervals. By simply pressing one button 1 to 7 times you can set the timer for one of the seven possible time settings. Each press of the button emits a little beep so, after some practice, I learned to set the timer without even having to look at it. I use the timer multiple times a day. When my cookies need to bake for 10 minutes, I just press 4 times, confirmed by 4 beeps. When I need to leave for a friend's house in 45 minuters, I just press 7 times, wait until the timer rings and press 5 more times. If the kids need a 4 minute time out, I press twice, and once more after the timer goes off. The timer is so handy and so versatile that I don't know how to function without it.

I love the countdown timer feature on the watch! It's really convenient. The timer is located on the main screen of the watch where the time is shown and all it takes is a single click of the button to set the timer and it automatically sets for 1 min. each click adds more time going from 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and then it resets to 0 so it's easy to turn off if you accidentally set it. Some reviewers have complained that the sound of the alarm isn't loud enough but I thought it was fairly loud.
The only thing I wish this watch had was a light, but I knew it didn't have one before buying it so that's ok. So far it has been a great watch and is very comfortable and it was easy to adjust the size of the band as well. The last test is wether it lasts in the water while swimming. It's supposed to be water resistant up to 10m so should be fine swimming in the pool.

I have the exact opposite issue with the clasp that the below reviewer has -- my clasp snaps shut and stays shut! I have to get a screwdriver to pry it open to remove it because my fingernails are just not strong enough, and I have strong nails. Also, I don't understand why there would be an impression that the band was expansion-type; the description states that there is a clasp and it is the fold-over type. But maybe they recently changed the description.
Otherwise, I agree completely with A. Rogers' review: this is a great watch. With all the timer features, it is indispensible for a mom. Compared to all the other watches out there with all these timer features, this one is NOT clunky-looking at all. I would call it sleek, in fact. Most watches with these features are big, thick, sporty-Ironman-looking watches, but not this one. I wear the version with the plastic band for everyday, and I wear this metallic one for dressier occasions.
The only drawback to this watch (aside from the tight clasp which will hopefully loosen a bit) is the fact that it doesn't have a light. I don't know the technology; maybe adding a light would make it thick and clunky since most lighted watches are clunky-looking.
As stated, this is a hard-working little watch for everyday use, and it lasts a long time although you won't be passing it along to your grandkids. Buy this watch -- for all the features and the great price, you won't be disappointed.

I hope they never stop making this watch. It's easy to adjust the band just lift where the little arrow is pointing with a small screwdriver on the clasp and slide until it fits, push it down and you're done. Easy. In January 2014 I hadn't fastened the clasp securely I was in a hurry and the watch fell off & I thought I lost it. I found in the snow in front of my garage after I'd run it over with my car! The watch was still working, the face was not damaged at all the band however was twisted and bent, knowing I had nothing to lose I gently twisted the band back into alignment. The only thing was the clasp was a little iffy. I finally broke down and bought a replacement in April, 2014, only because I misplaced the watch. I have since found it now I feel bad that I bough a replacement since the original works just fine.

Sure, this isn't the most gorgeous watch around, but I didn't buy it to get complements either. It has all the functions I need: alarm, instant-set countdown timer, date/day/time, and classic timer. I read all the reviews here before purchasing, and was worried about the clasp issue. Well, the clasp on my watch can't be any more secure. The clasp is made with both a hook-on and push-in mechanism, so I can't even imagine the watch just 'coming off'.
My favorite function from this watch is definitely the countdown timer, which can be set with the click of a button. The timer choices are 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 minutes. With one button click, the timer will ring after 1 minute, 2 clicks 3 minutes, 3 clicks 5 minutes, and so on.
The only thing I can imagine taking a star off of is the Plain Jane design, but even that can be considered a quality in the workplace. It's not like I can wear a bling-ed up watch all around the hospital anyways. All in all, if you just want something functional, this is a GEM for a steal!
(Apparently this watch is water-resistant as well, but I'm too chicken to test it in the shower.)
*Update* It's water-resistant... I tested. This is officially my dream watch.

I bought this watch from Amazon 3 1/2 years ago and the battery is still going strong and the watch STILL looks very good! It is very durable. My favorite feature is the one button countdown timer. I have had this style in other Casio watches and never want to be without it. You quickly memorize the 1,3,5,10,15,20,30 minutes sequence. The metal band may have been a little stiff to begin with, but became nice and pliable. The size adjustment clasp catch needs to be adjusted with a screwdriver or something to pry it open and then firmly set it in place again so it won't slip, but then it is good to go. Just check on it occasionally. I love the metal band because it doesn't break like the plastic ones I used to get of this same function Casio watch. It is just a little cold to put on a metal watch and band in the winter sometimes (I could rub it to warm it up before putting it on). I much prefer the look of this one to the little black plastic one, it looks like a more expensive watch. Maybe it's good to have one of each, but I find I haven't worn the black one since I got this one. The band cleans up nicely with an old toothbrush and soap or some toothpaste or cleanser. I give this watch an A+ five star rating. When the battery goes, I hope they still have them for sale, because it is about the same price as getting a new battery to buy a new watch!! And the black watch had a problem: when the battery was replaced the alarm would have the am/pm switched so they took the battery out and put it back in again or something to get it right. So be sure to check your alarm before leaving if you get the battery changed!

Since the band is not expansion, I found an expansion band that looks very nice on the watch.
Check Wal-Mart for bands. Sometimes they have them and other times they don't.
No, it doesn't have a light. If it did you would need to replace the battery much more often so that is not a feature I look for.
Both Energizer and Maxell make battery #365 that is a perfect replacement for the #1116 that is VERY hard to find anymore. Other brands may also have this #365. I have seen them on Amazon.

This watch is the absolute best because of the countdown timer. It's my "mommy" timer, my "I'll do it in 5min" timer and the "you have to read for 20min" timer. I wish this feature was on more cascio watches because I'd buy them.

This watch is the best for a ladies' digital watch, and the third one of these I've owned. I have no desire to change to any other watch. It has time, date, alarm, stopwatch, and best of all, an instant timer, which I use constantly. By pressing one button, you can set the watch to beep in one minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. (7 settings up to 30 minutes). It's perfect for giving children a "5 minute warning" on something and actually following through. Also great for backup on a kitchen timer. If this watch had a light on it, it would be perfect. That is the only lacking feature, but no women's watches come with a light except bulky sports watches.

This is the "dressy" version of Casio LA11WB-1 there are more reviews for it since many of us have owned this earlier version for 15+ years.
The pros:
The countdown timer - this is why we love this watch. You push a single button once and a timer is set for 1 minute, each time you press the button, the time increases 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 then reset. It's not too terribly loud. I have used this since my kids were babes, through time-outs, and we have X minutes until we leave. I've never had this feature go out on the watch so the button and electronics must be pretty good.
The price - I can afford to keep a backup on hand
The band - I have actually preferred the metal band and haven't had any trouble with it. I have a very small wrist so it may make a difference having the extra wrap portion underneath. The plastic band on the LA11WB-1 tends to break on me fairly quickly. I do have the LA11WB-1 as my backup in my jewelry box - just in case.
Overall - This watch is a little prettier than the plastic band. It still is a little "geeky" but more appropriate for business attire.
The cons:
No light - Not a good watch for dark areas.
As I get older, the little bars across the top that indicate time remaining get harder and harder to see.
This is not a watch to pass down to your grandchildren. The other model typically lasts about 1/2 - 2 years. I would assume this watch will be comparable but we'll see after they've been out a couple of years. When the battery goes out, I've had about a 50% success rate of having a replacement battery work. The batteries are a pain to get to, it's hard to find a place that is familiar with this watch, that has the battery, and will replace it. Any other problems that might arise cost far more than the replacement cost.
Recommendation: Buy 2 - one of each style so you'll have a backup.

I would gladly trade a background light button or glow in the dark background for the timer and alarm.

They wear out fairly fast. Ugly too. This model comes with a metal band. Just a great great watch. Buy it!!! You will never wear your old very expensive watch again. This one is far too useful!!!! I am totally dependant on it, just like my computer.

I agree with the positive points raised by most about this watch - good looking compared to other digital watches with a timer or stopwatch; good timer and stopwatch; easy to set; etc. There are a few things, though, that I don't like about this purchase (from Amazon): 1) if you enlarge the picture of this watch on the Amazon product page, you'll see "Japan" right under "water resistant" on the surface of the watch. The actual watch doesn't have "Japan" on it. 2) It says "Made in China" on the back of the watch, which doesn't seem what's in the picture on Amazon. And, 3) the thickness info on Amazon says 5mm, but the actual thickness is 7.5mm. I checked Casio's product page and found 7.5mm thickness to be right. I guess it gave me some confidence that it's probably not a fake, as many things have been found to be these days. And, 7.5mm is not bad considering many digital watches are over 10mm thick. Still, I hope Amazon will update the thickness information and the product photos so that there is no discrepancy between what one thinks what she would get and the reality.
BTW, I found the band very secure after I adjusted it. I tried to pull it apart after the adjustment, and found I didn't have enough strength to make that happen without using tools. I'm not frail in any way : )As one of the previous reviews suggested, you do need to make sure that the clasp is fastened into the "right" spot. I slide the clasp slightly to find the spot, and just used my hand to fasten it. I guess if the spot had not been right, I would have needed to force it to fasten by using a tool.

This watch survived an entire cycle of my washing machine. I obviously forgot to take it out of a pocket of a jacket I wore and put into the washer. I was amazed to find it was working as if nothing had happened. Your mileage may vary, but I appreciate how well mine has worked.

I got this watch because it reminded me of being a kid in the eighties when digital watches first became popular.
While I bought it purely for the retro look, I'm very happy with it because of its convenient features.
I love the timer feature. Across the top of the watch is a list of numbers 30-20-15-10-5-3-1. By pressing the timer button to the right of the numbers, you can get an indicator bar to appear below them. If I want to set the timer for 15 minutes, I press until the indicator bar reaches out to the 15. Then, as the time counts down, sections of the bar disappear until the bar is gone and the alarm beeps. I thought this was cheesy and useless when I got it, but now I use it all the time. If I set the oven timer, I set a timer on the watch too, so if I'm away from the oven I'll have a reminder. If I have a spare half hour, I might set the timer for 15 minutes and take the dog for a walk and turn around for home when it beeps.
There's also a stopwatch, which I use to time my hikes and runs to see how long I've been out. I can also quickly display the date if I have a dingbat moment and don't know the date, usually on those rare occasions when you still have to write a check.
The only reason this doesn't get five stars is because, as others have noted, the clasp tends to open itself. Mine also gathers fuzz from fleecy clothing and blankets.
This purchase, made mostly out of nostalgia, has turned out to be my favorite watch, more so than my costlier sports watch and many expensive analog watches.

I think this is my third Casio watche. For me they last about two and a half years and are very reliable. I believe you have to send them back to the dealer to get a new battery - since they are so cheap I don't bother and get a new one. They don't stop - the display just gets lighter and lighter until you can't read it.
I usually get the black strap but this time when I saw the picture I thought this band might be the kind that stretches on and you don't have to buckle. Wrong, but it will do. The band is a bit clumsy to close but I am used to it now and it is fine.
I only have one complaint about Casio - their documentation. It is tiny and awkward to understand. I am forever accidentally setting an alarm and it takes time to figure out how to stop the daily alarm! I have gotten used to my watch just periodically beeping at me! But if you want an inexpensive and very reliable watch, Casio is the way to go.

I have purchased this watch (but with a better band) 4 times over. The one thing that keeps me to this watch is it's "instant alarm". It's the only company The produces a watch with this feature. I use this alarm all the time for many different things. The button on the upper right: push once for 1 min alarm; push twice for 3 min alarm; push three times for 5 min alarm; ...all the way to 30 min alarm. Increments go as follows: 1 min, 3 min. 5 min, 10, 15, 20 and 30 min. If I want to remind myself to get the wash from dryer, remember I put water to boil on the stove, kids up the stairs to brush teeth in 1 min, or it's time-out, break at work is 10 min. Sooo easy. Band is cheap, cheap, cheap. But, the watch..... I love that "instant alarm", you can always buy a better band.

Finding a digital watch for women that has this functionality and simple elegance (not cartoonish) is more difficult than one might imagine in these days of digital everything else. I've been using this type of watch for many years and the last one finally lost its water-resistance (after about 10 years) and started to accumulate moisture beneath the watch face. This model is slightly larger than my original LA670W, but not that you'd notice except in a side-by-side comparison or when swapping out the band. And swapping out the band is exactly why this particular watch didn't merit the full 5 stars from me (I didn't notice the alternate views that showed what the band really looked like, although in the end, I probably would have bought this anyway). I understand why this band (which feels heavy and is way too big on me) is included as it is adjustable, but I prefer an elastic band that won't accidentally catch and open, losing the watch. I realize that an elastic band is less generic (needing fitting), however, and was glad that my favorite jewelry repair shop would swap out the bands for me, even though as I mentioned the old watch was slightly smaller. Perhaps offering an alternative band in the "People who bought this also bought..." might be something for the vendor to consider.
All in all, for the money, this is a great watch for someone who wants a water-resistant watch with a timer, alarm, stop watch, and digital seconds. My only other minor complaint is that the timer (in useful increments of 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes) will sometimes get started on its own (most often when you confuse which button to push, say when looking for the date display, but sometimes by knocking the button otherwise). This is more a duh moment than a real deficiency, however, and I am very glad to have a timer AND a stopwatch. Please don't stop making this watch!

This is such an ugly, ugly watch. The stainless steel-coloured version is even worse than the three gold-coloured versions of this watch that I've owned in the past. But the count down timer, alarm and date features are so useful that I picked it up again. The price is low enough that I have enough money left in my budget to buy a more attractive unit for those occasions when appearance matters. Why can't these functions be put in other watches made for female-sized wrists? Why do so many watch designers assume we need only look pretty and don't have any need for a sensible watch with useful functions? Why can't designers of pretty watches get together with the designer of this fantastically useful, ugly watch and make a perfect watch? I'd pay nearly 10x the price for a watch like that.

Chose this because I like the digital readouts of watches, but did not realize it doesn't have a read-in-the-dark display feature. Will keep it as a backup watch. Face could be larger for easier readout, it is smaller than I expected.
