Timex Unisex Weekender 38mm Watch

 Nice watch
After losing her previous Timex watch, I decided to buy my mom a new one. I was looking for something bigger than the typical women’s watch because she was complaining that the one she had before was difficult to read due to its small size. Similarly, she didn’t like the ones that have leather straps since every time she cooks, she gets her hands wet and we all know that water and leather are not compatible.

I bought this watch because I googled 'cheap watches' and this was the first result that came up.
I wasn't expecting much- I was about to start a job that was predominately outside, and I needed a reliable way to tell time. I didn't have the money yet for something really nice and more suited for the outdoors, and I figured this would get me to my first paycheck before breaking. Because I had brought the watch with replacing it already in mind, I didn't treat it with care whatsoever, going about my daily business as I pleased. Surprisingly, my first paycheck came (and went), but the watch did not break. I figured, hey, it's probably going to break soon anyway, so I might as well wait until it does and get my full use out of it.
This damned thing lasted for almost 2 years. I had no idea how it lasted through everything I put it through- extreme temperatures (sub-zero F to over 110 F), an industrial fryer (still have a nasty scar), exploding bags of chili, showers, pools, unexpected barn animal fluids, mud, snow, dropping it out of a moving car (by accident), throwing it off a cliff (for fun) and the neverending dirt and dust-
-the face is all scratched to hell with my initials carved into the back, the band is faded and slightly smells of french fries, and there's a huge scrape on the edge where I nearly died while rock climbing- but the face still lights up, and the hands still tell time.
Revisiting the page now, it seems it's gone up in price by a bit. But I definitely got my money's worth, and it still hasn't broken. If you don't want any bells and whistles and just want a watch- this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tada I have my watch

I have long wanted a watch, may sound like a simple desire, but I am financially challenged. The watch was $24.97,

When I bought this watch, I was sort of skeptical as to the quality and if it was really genuine.
After placing my order, the watch was promptly sent and received and in a well protected order box.

When I took the watch out, I was so excited to put it on my wrist..Tada I had my watch.

It is a simple but grand watch, the face has both hourly numbers and under it has military time (13 /14/ 15 etc). The second hand is long and well defined I can see it as it ticks and not have to squint to track it. The band is great no trouble with it bothering me in any manner. I have, deliberately, when washing dishes and taking it with me in a shower, to prolong it to the water with-out any problem from the watch itself or the band. The band dried out very fast (BTW -Body Heat??- IDK)

I can hear the seconds Tic Tic Tic..at first, I was worried about it, thinking it might be a craftsman issue but now I only hear it when I listen for it.

I have placed it on both wrist. To see, if I had any trouble with its weight or clinking on things since I hadn't worn a watch, since Basic Training. I didn't have any issues and I soon got used to it.

I now look at my watch more often then my cell phone or the clock on the task bar to see the time.
Thank youTimex for helping me get a watch I am proud and happy to have on my wrist.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first year with the watch
Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2017
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
Hi all, just wanted to share my thoughts about the watch after wearing it everyday for the past year. Honestly, with nearly 5000 reviews of the watch, the watch speaks for itself but I love the watch and it deserves an in-depth review.

Pros:
-It's a quartz movement so it'll keep time much more accurately than any mechanical watches. I generally need to adjust by a few minutes every couple of months or so.
-I've abused this watch (banging against walls/desks, dropping it on the floor, submerging under water, leaving it out in freezing/scorching weathers) but still runnin like a champ with the slightest of scratches on the glass
-Indiglo has been useful to light up the watch face in the dark
-Timeless design makes it easy to dress up or down

It has some Cons:
-Quartz movements are battery powered which means you'll have to swap out the batteries every few years and you'll probably want to get it serviced professionally (especially for the faint-hearted)
-Quartz movements also mean that you'll have to get used to the classic timebomb "tick" of the second movement hand. If you have an apartment room as small as mine, you'll hear it all night long.
-Probably wouldn't go too deep in the water
-Polish is not very good and somewhat uneven (but it might be from the aforementioned abuse)
-Included nato strap frays easily (see pictures) - probably within the first month but i've learned to live with it... Until I ordered a new one just now.

With all that being said, I'd HIGHLY recommend his watch to anyone who wants a no nonsense cheap watch that keeps accurate time and looks classy. I own 2 mechanical watches but I feel that I have to be extra careful of my surroundings (especially here in NYC) to avoid bumping into a subway turnstile or a construction scaffolding.

That's it. It's probably the best $30 i've spent this year other than maybe the totes umbrella which lasted over a year here in NYC (which is amazing).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality for Great Price
Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2017

Even with all of the excellent reviews for this watch, I was skeptical of how good it could be given the low price. However, I took a chance and very happy that I did. The picture doesn't do this watch justice - "in person" it looks and feels very high quality. I love the very plain, uncluttered, retro appearance.

I've never had a nylon watch band, but so far I love it. Most comfortable watch I've ever worn. I've always hated watches - leather makes my wrist sweat like crazy and metal links grab and pull my arm hairs all day. The nylon is extremely comfortable. I put it on first thing in the morning and take it off just before bed, and hardly notice it is there throughout the day.

Other reviewers have mentioned that the ticking is loud. I suppose it is loud in comparison to other watches, but it is only really noticeable when you are sitting in silence. Even the slightest noise will cover up the sound of the ticking. Actually, when I can hear the ticking, I find it soothing - reminds me of the old clock at my grandparents' house when I was sleeping over!

I can't recommend this watch highly enough. Buy it now!

I love this watch. The fact that I can easily change the band to one of a different color or pattern, or change to a different style of band, makes this watch very customizable to your mood or what you are wearing for the day. I will say that this watch IS a unisex watch as the face is a bit larger than most women's watches have. I took some measurements of the watch that I felt were missing in the description.

The crystal, or glass, and face is 1 1/4 inches across.
The body of the watch, not including the crown (the knob/button you spin to set time and press to activate the indiglo night-light) is 1 1/2 inches across.
The band itself, which I found to be pretty true to color, a merlot/burgundy, is 10 1/2 inches long from the inner lip of the buckle clasp to the end and 3/4 inch wide.

The indiglo night-light turns on when the button, or crown, is pressed, and goes off when the button is released. The light is a pale blueish-geen.

Yes, there is a ticking sound but I don't find it to be any louder than any of the other watches that I own.

The second hand, which looks matte gray in the photo, is a shiny silver in person. It matches the body of the watch.

If you decide to shower while wearing this watch or it happens to get wet, the band IS fabric and may take a little while to dry.

This watch has a stainless steel back and when its time to replace the battery, requires a CR2016 cell or button battery.

I hope that this review helps anyone interested in this watch.

I haven’t worn a watch in over a decade because I just use my phone, but I just had a baby and I don’t want her growing up seeing me always reaching for it, or with it constantly nearby. I ordered this watch thinking it would come as the bright green watch band that displays on my screen in the first picture. Much to my delight, it came and is actually a nice olive/army green shown in the other pictures. I wouldn’t mind either way but the true olive is certainly more wardrobe compatible! The quality of the watch part itself is very good. It feels like a much more expensive watch and my husband was complimentary of it and generally he is apathetic about my accessories. When I ordered the watch, I guess I hadn’t paid close attention and I thought the smaller numbers were for seconds but they are actually the hours for a 24/hr clock, which is pretty neat. I also love the indiglo feature on a watch that is so un-sporty. Because the watch is oversized for a feminine wrist, I am getting a sore spot on the wrist bone from the watch case rubbing but I assume that will resolve itself with time.
Update: I adjusted the fit by one hole on the band and the watch wears a little loosely but all rubbing has stopped and I like the fit. It was silent when I got it, but now has a noticeable “tick” sound anytime the watch is face up. It doesn’t bother me but my husband has mentioned it a few times. Also, I really like that the face and hands are bold enough that I can read the watch at night when I’m up with baby with just the aid of a nightlight and no glasses, without needing my free hand to use the glo feature. I’m so dependent on this watch now that the only time I take it off is to shower, and then I put it opposite the glass so I can still see the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, elegant, cheap in price but a good value.
Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2016

A main selling point for me when buying this watch was the loose band that feeds through the two watch lugs. I've had several watches over the years in which the watch bands had failed me. One of my favorite watches had a simple army green nylon band that lasted until it frayed and became unmanageable. Ive never liked the rubber like bands that sport watches seem to feature. They tend to tear on me. Metal bracelet style bands also are prone to break on my wrist. So this nylon style bands seems like a good choice for me.

The watch time piece itself is good size for small to medium wrists. The stainless steel bezel and lugs are solidly built and very good looking. Certainly looks more expensive than what I paid for it. The watch face is average looking and although I've only had the watch for less than a day, I've had zero difficulty making out the hands. Some say the hands ring silver in color are difficult to read against the black background of the watch face. I like the red second hand a lot.

I would have to hold the watch up to my ear to hear the ticking in a room with the TV on or if people are talking. In a quiet room, such as a bedroom getting ready to go to sleep, I can easily hear the ticking. But I can also hear the ticking on my other clocks and they don't bother me. I don't have any trouble sleeping with ticking clocks.

I have not tested out the water resistance quality. I imagine showering with it in won't hurt it. Even so, at paying around $25, if it breaks, you're not out of a fortune.

I've already ordered a leather band for it and I like that you can buy other nylon bands and how easy they are interchangeable.

I'm not upset that there isn't a date feature. I had an analog watch with a date window at the three o'clock spot and whenever a month had an odd number of days, I had to reset it amd it was a pain because it also had a week day feature. The week day window featured an English day of the week for AM and for some reason a Spanish day of week for PM. But being an analog watch, it was inexact when the day of the week switched over as well as the date.

It was refreshing how frank the instructions were. There's nothing to this watch. It's dead simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wear outdoors then swap out the band for a night out
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
I've had this watch for more than 5 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I got it as a weekend/outdoors counterpart to my Timex Easy Readers that I wore to the office for more than a decade (one for brown belts, one for black belts). During Covid and WFH, it's even more literally my daily wearer. My Weekender has for years stood up to everything I've thrown at it, worked perfectly, and gotten me several compliments. It's easy to read and has a subtle elegance. At 38mm--not too big, but not small either--the size is perfect to serve you in the outdoors and also augment a subtle style or aesthetic on a night out.

I don't like to swim, much less dive. So all I look for in a watch, in terms of WR, is whether it can survive me getting caught in a summer shower, get dishwater splashed on it, or, worst case scenario, a quick splash in the pool or ocean. I haven't swam in this watch, but I've certainly done the first 2 on those list with it. The case held up just fine, no fogging or worse, and wearing a fabric strap means it won't get funky--and you can just throw it in the wash anyway.

Despite not swimming in it, I do "sport" in this watch otherwise--jogging, mountain biking, softball, etc. In all those situations, the watch was fine. No signs of slowing down, no cracks or scratches. The indiglo backlight flickers, but I have hardly used that since I was a teenager anyway. The quartz movement means you'll never have to set the watch like a manual needs daily, and like an automatic or solar may require. I've never replaced the battery on my Weekender or had to reset the time because it was off.

After a day of sporting, you can toss the sweaty strap in the laundry and pick out a new one based on your outfit, all in a couple seconds. My Weekender was my introduction to NATO and other single-pass fabric straps, and they're now my go-to daily watch set-up.

I've never replaced the battery and haven't noticed any lost or gained time. I should mention that I don't really adhere to the mentality that you need to measure how accurate a watch is over a year or more to judge its merits. This watch doesn't have a date window, which would mean several more resets per year, but between traveling between time zones and DST, I have to reset the Weekender several times a year anyway.

I wouldn't wear this watch with a dressy outfit, but for everything up to that point, it looks appropriate. I don't like flashy watches or to walk into a room and have my timepiece be the first thing people notice, so this is perfect for me. You should never pick out a watch based on what you think watch snobs will think/say, but if you're worried about it looking 'cheap,' I've only gotten compliments about the Weekender. Like many affordable product lines, there is a surprising fandom out there for this watch. At this price point, I don't think anyone would regret buying it, and its versatility means it may become that go-to watch for when none of the rest make sense. And if it's your only watch--good choice.

Okay...let me start off by saying that I'm a bit of a watch snob. I have several watches that are around 400-500 in value (given as gifts...I for sure wouldn't pay that much! Lol). So, I'm used to high end watches.

I found this one online and fell in love with the design and simplicity. It is weird that it doesn't have the day/date shown, but I kind of like that. Great for the weekend or vacation when you don't care what day or date it is!

I'm sure the strap will wear out over time but they are easy to replace. I cannot speak to the water resistance aspect of it because I haven't exposed it to water other than washing my hands. The light is very bright and easy to see. As for the loudness that others have mentioned, yes it is louder than my other watches (remember the price difference though) but I hadn't noticed it until I read the reviews from other buyers. So don't let that keep you from getting this watch. If you have a fan on or some type of background noise, you will not notice this at all. I also like the sound of watches so....

Overall, I'm very please with this watch and I don't have any complaints about it at all. If I lost this one, I'd buy it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just buy this. For the price it is awesome.

I'm old fashioned and feel naked without a watch. Had an all-metal ESQ for years, but when it broke a watch repair place told me to cut my losses since the brand is basically defunct. I like analog watches, hate roman numerals (ancient Rome fell for a reason), and don't want stupid features I will never use or a date window I can't see at 51 years old. This watch is very comfortable and easy to read. Don't listen to the review that says it's hard to read at certain angles. If this happens in certain lighting, you will instinctively move your wrist and suddenly the hands will be easy to read. Plus the amazing availability of replacement bands that you can swap out makes this a versatile piece for everyday wear. They even stamped the battery it takes on the back of the cover! (Message to all battery watchmakers: DO THIS!!!)

I haven't worn a wrist watch in decades (yes, I'm old). I finally realized I needed one at work in order to follow a schedule and so I purchased a cheap watch with some unknown brand name. The watch that arrived wasn't as described so I sent it back. I realized that sometimes you have to pay a little more for a NAME BRAND that you know is of good quality and so I purchased this TIMEX!

I'm so glad that they have the Weekender in so many different styles. I'm the kind of person who likes a watch to be a watch, not a calendar, not a stopwatch, not a computer, just a watch. I found this style, which has a nice white face and big, black, easy to read, numbers 1-12 (not numerals I-XII), which also has Indiglo to make it easy to read at night!

I've been wearing it for over a week and it's great! (and just a little strange getting used to looking at my wrist for the time after all these years!)

i wanted (at my age and style nowadays) a simple watch to wear when i work mainly but also on an everyday basis. the simple "time piece" watch itself is simple with the time face easily readable with the basic indiglo light that comes with timex to read at night or dark places. the sound of the watch has a little tick tok sound like a mini wall clock on your wrist...first wrist watch i had that you can literally here it clearly. i don't mind it actually, i like it because i've gotten used to it and if the tick tok sounds different over time i'll realize that the battery needs to be changed. i was worried that the watch might crack because i run around everywhere when i work and bump into things but i've never had that issue not even a scratch on the face of the watch so i'm happy. it also has the plus of having a flexible and easily changeable wrist strap made of lite material which is about $7 i believe to change out.

I've had my eye on this watch for a long while, and I should have bought it sooner. I hate wearing watches. My expensive ones aren't suitable for every day activities and my smart ones have bands that irritate my skin and are bulkier than I would like. I just need a simple watch that tells me the time and has a decent light feature so I can see what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night. This watch is everything I was looking for. Easy to ready, the Indiglo light is bright and easy to see at night, the band is comfortable, the watch is lightweight. I think I've only taken it off to shower. Seems to hold up well, I'm bad about banging my watches on all kinds of things, and this one has been no exception. No scratches on it yet, despite some pretty hard knocks it has taken. The only negative thing I have to say is that when you are in a quiet room, you can actually hear the second hand ticking. I'm half deaf, and I can hear it. It doesn't really bother me, but if Timex can make this thing a bit quieter, it would be perfect. Great lightweight watch. I will wear this for a long time as long as it holds up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch for the price

Accuracy - This watch is impressively accurate for the type of watch it is at this price point; I've measured it over about 2 weeks and it loses about .3 seconds per day, or about 10 seconds per month. So I'll probably re-sync it to time.gov every month or so.

"The ticking!" - Other reviews have mentioned audible ticking that annoys them. I have no idea what they're talking about, I can only hear it if I'm in a dead silent room and it's kind of near my head, and even then I don't ever notice it really.

Durability & water resistance - I haven't really abused the thing but in 2 weeks of wear it hasn't scratched or fallen apart or stopped working. I wash my hands frequently and no issues so far. I do take it off when I'm giving my kids a bath, but it would probably handle that fine as well.

I think the watch looks good enough for work / business casual / casual wear and the NATO strap gives you other options in terms of color or material if you want. Indiglo feature works as expected.

Packaging was insufficient and the product box was completely destroyed (they just threw the box in a manila envelope). The watch worked fine but it could have easily been crushed / cracked in transit. That's really the only negative I can say about this watch. I'll update the review if this thing suddenly dies or something, but for now, I'd say it is well worth the $30-40 price. If you're on the fence about this watch, I think it is a good choice. Just be sure that you're ordering from Amazon itself or a trusted watch vendor as there is a ton of fake junk (yes, even fake Timex) that seems to be on this site now; even some models or versions of a legit item appear to be suspicious.

I'm not a watch collector. In fact I often keep a watch around for a very long time. After recently selling off a couple of wonderful Seiko's that I had for a long time, I was still left with 2 others: a Seiko and an Accutron. Both which represent memorable experiences and neither I'd want to wear daily. So I went hunting thru amazon and after a lot of fussing around I decided on this watch. Why? Style. Price. Watchband. Amazon return policy (if needed.)

Watch arrived in a funky package but intact. From the first moment until today I'm pleased with this purchase. Wear it daily. Looks-n-feels good. Style is simple. Finish is flawless. Band is comfortable. Nice change from metal link bracelet. Purchased a Red Band from another seller. EZ to change and gives the watch a different personality.
Highly recommended for the quality, comfort, style, & price.

I love a good watch. I own several Omega, Stowa, and Movado watches, mostly automatics. This is not one of those watches. It's pretty much the opposite of them, except in its reliable timekeeping. I bought this watch to go on an African photography trip in 2019, because I did not want to have an expensive watch, but I wanted something that would work reliably, be readable in dark conditions, resistant to the elements, lightweight, and decent looking. Looks a re a matter of taste. I like the olive drab band, the cream-colored dial is easy to read, but it's plain—and I like that in a utilitarian watch. It's been to Africa three times, Iceland, Death Valley, Bora Bora, Qatar, UK, and points between. It's been snorkeling in the ocean, in the snow, in temperatures well below 0F and above 100F. It has never failed to work. The Indiglo light always works. I specifically wanted a model without a date window, because I don't usually care to know the date from my watch, and I prefer the cleanest face possible. This is a winner. And geez, the price.

This is a modal window.

I work driving at night, and have tried quite a few watches in the $100 range price.
This Weekender is by far, the most legible watch I have owned. The only watches in the same price range that come close in legibility are Casio’s AE-1500WH, and the Duro (MDV106).
Both of those are perfectly legible during the day, but at night, when you need to take a quick split second look, and you have both hands on the wheel, in the dark with just the passing street lights or moonlight, the Weekender is the one you want. (Note: referring to the white or cream color dial, the black dial is good during the day, but just ok at night).
It’s not the most rugged, it doesn’t have the water resistance of the two Casios I mentioned, but I shower with it every day, and I’ve had no problems at all.
And to put a cherry on top, it has Indiglo, for those times when you’re in total darkness!
As far as specs:
38mm diameter
20mm lug width
9mm thickness
46mm lug-tip to lug-tip
31mm dial diameter
Very light.
Mine is accurate to 5 seconds a month.
It does tick kinda loud, but I actually like that, it tells me it’s working.
I have attached a video for size/fit reference.
My wrist size is 7.25 inches = 18.5 cm, and it fits great. It is not the original strap, I put my watches on Single Pass Perlon Straps.
So like a mentioned above:
If you need a watch that can show you the time in a split second, without the need for pressing a button for a light, simple, no extra complications, no need to charge it every couple of days (like smart watches)…
Just THE TIME, this is the one.

I haven't had a decent watch in 15 years because I made the mistake of buying an expensive watch on Amazon that looked really cool. It did look cool, but the mechanisms kept getting loose. Between having to replace the band twice and the mechanism coming loose, I was visiting the watch repair shop once a month or more. It was ridiculous. So I gave up on that watch and bought an $8 watch from WMT when I was on vacation and needed to tell time. For the next 13 years I just bought a new $8 watch if I couldn't get the current one to work after changing the battery. The favorite watch I ever owned was a Timex Indiglo, but I didn't know if they even made them any more. Looked on Amazon and voila! The only thing I wasn't sure I liked was the band - I like leather bands, but I always wear them out, so I took a chance with this one. I like it very much. It's definitely not fancy or dressy, but it works and I like the looks for every day. I don't know why I waited so long.

Next spring I'm planning a trip to a country that uses the 24 hour clock. I decided I didn't want to waste time trying to recall or figure out what all the times after 12 were, so I figured I'd learn to adjust them automatically. And what better way than with a 24 hour watch? When the watch arrived, I loved it at first site. The numbers on the face are large and easy to read (I'm a "senior citizen"), with 1300 through 2400 written just below the numbers from 1 to 12. The watch was easy to set and so far (10 days) appears to be keeping accurate time. The very best--and surprising-- feature is the band, which is made of a material sort of like canvas but very comfortable against the skin. Plus the band is longer than most with lots of holes to adjust the size, and now finally I have a watch that doesn't pinch my chubby wrist. That it is waterproof is a bonus. I don't plan to take it swimming, but if caught out in the rain I needn't worry about the watch getting wet.

I've wanted to pick up a Timex Weekender for some time now. I'm glad I finally did.

GOOD:

- It's a very simply styled wristwatch. 38mm with a stainless case and nylon "NATO" or "ZULU" strap. The straps are easily swapped without the need to remove the spring-bars. As far as features; It tells the time. No day or date feature. (It's kind of ironic that this watch is called the "Weekender" when it has no way of telling you what day it is.) The indiglo backlight, is very bright. It has a 30 meter water resistance, which means you should avoid getting it wet but the odd accidental splash here and there should be no problem. I do know of people who swim in these and report no problems, but I wouldn't risk it. If you truly need a watch while swimming there are far better choices than this.

NOT SO GOOD:

- It's loud. Loud enough to be heard in a quiet room. I have another Timex which is also this loud. I had to synchronize them to keep my bedroom from sounding like "dueling metronomes" at night. To be fair though I have a third Timex that makes no noise whatsoever, so I think there are just some Timex movements that have this issue, and some that don't. But this one definitely does.

- The second hand falls halfway between the indices. (I attached a photo so you can see what I mean) This is probably just a slight misalignment of the second hand and It doesn't bother me at all, but I know some people are driven crazy by that sort of thing.

That's it. There's not much more to say about this one. I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and stylish watch for the price (economical), it is a little loud.

TL;DR Version: Great and stylish watch for the price (economical), it is a little loud.

I was looking for a watch specifically for use in the city for a gig I'm working right now downtown, and this fit the bill. My other watches are an old Seiko Kinetic, a knock off Daytona Rolex, and a Stauer 1930 Dashtronic. None of them have a back-light making it hard to read at night, the fake Rolex could get me rolled by a crackhead that doesn't see how obviously fake it is, and I just really love the look of the Dashtronic and I didn't want to wear it where I'm working. I needed something with a back-light, that was easy to read, that I liked, that was durable and can handle weather, and that was economical. This Timex really hit all those points. This one has a classic watch look that I like but with the nylon band it doesn't attract any particular attention as anything fancy or expensive. the "normal" numbers make it easy to read even when you've got a bunch of other stuff going on to distract you which I usually do. This is a really "no frills" little timepiece.

I don't personally like digital watches, though one would have probably been more practical for me in most of those points if I'm honest (I could have really used a timer feature too). Anyway I'm really happy with this watch.

Yes, it's rather loud. You can pretty easily hear it even while watching TV or at night if it's in the room. This doesn't really bother me personally but I can see where it would be an issue if you work in a library or the ticking noise would keep you from sleeping. I personally think this has a lot to do with the light weight casing, unlike my other watches which are fairly heavy and where I believe the heavier metal casing absorbs some of the sound of the movement, this one feels like it has a thinner metal casing. That's my theory anyway. It still feels based on the design like it will have the legendary Timex toughness but I wouldn't use it to hammer in any nails or anything! The trade-off here is that between the lighter weight casing and the nylon band it is very light and extremely comfortable for long-term everyday wearing.

Another nice feature of the nylon band is that it has a lot of holes, set very close together. This means it's more adjustable than my other watches and can be buckled to fit at whatever you preference is for "snugness". Also, of course it would be easy to change out the bands for different looks and if a spring bar goes out you don't lose the watch itself. You could even go with a conventional leather or metal band if you wished and it could be perfectly appropriate in basically any setting.

I can't speak to changing the batteries as I haven't done it yet of course. I try not to play with the cool indiglo thing but it's hard to resist and I'm sure that will wear my first battery down quickly. I haven't decided if I'll take it in or just do it myself... probably DIY it depending on what I find out as far as difficulty level.

As a long-time Timex wearer, this watch was a great purchase. I usually always wear an ironman digital watch for the pure durability and functionality of it, but I decided to try something with a little bit more refinement to it for a more casual, slightly dressed up look in my day to day wear. The weekender is solid, looks very nice, and I like the indiglo feature on the entire watchface. It's very easily readable.

The biggest must-have for any watch for me is it has to be comfortable enough for me to wear it the entire day without noticing it on my wrist at all unless I'm looking at it. The weekender definitely achieves this as it's one of the most comfortable watches I've ever worn.

My only gripe I have is that the nylon NATO-style band that comes with the watch is of pretty flimsy quality - the edges are slightly frayed and its just a simple, flat band. I would have liked it more if the edges were at least stitched to prevent the frayed, fuzzy look and it had a little more thickness to it. That is my only gripe at all with this watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars My everyday staple watch
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2021
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
Despite having posher more beautiful watches, the Timex Weekender is my fav watch. The model I am reviewing has all the features that make this brand and mode my staple day watch:
> Large sphere but lightweight watch, which makes checking the time easy without bulking your wrist. Perfect for ladies.
> 12-hr and 24-hr markers.
> Comfortable nylon strap that you can wear for ages. It can be washed with a bit of soap and it will be as new again. Easy to put in an off as it is just a slip-thru. You can change the strap and have a 'new' watch in 5 minutes.
> Elegant mix of black, white and metal, which makes it perfect for casual and work wearing.
> Water resistant. I can do the dishes or take a shower without having to freak out because I forgot to take it off.
> Glow in the dark. I use this feature all the time. If the battery is low, the glow won't be enough to allow full visibility, though,  but the battery last for a long time.

MAIN DOWNSIDES
> I love the style, but the contrast between the black sphere an the white color of the numbers is not the best They could have used a whiter white or just add a bit of fluorescent glow to the white numbers.
> Metalwear feels cheap even though I know for sure that this will last for years from other TW that I own.

so for real. great value. the face is even nicer in person. the indiglo is crisp. easy to read face. simple design and somehow so classic. the strap is replacable and will fray over time depending on usage rate and conditions. it really is just a sweet lookin watch that is no fuss.

BUT yes it is noticably loud. ive owned several Timex and only one of them, an Expedition, was loud. this one is the Metallica of timepieces. the rumors are true. quiet room, not anymore when you walk in wearing this. doing a netflix and chill? your lady or lad will notice. once heard it cannot be ignored. your only option is to wear it in noisy environments. maybe some brains are good at tuning things out, like my wife, but some of us cant help but hear it. so, i dont know what else to say about that. but i can say that when I'm not wearing this watch i miss it. for whatever thats worth.

I really like this watch for a number of reasons. First you don't realize you are wearing a watch, it is so comfortable. Second it can be worn under long sleeves or jackets with little notice because it is so thin. While thicker watches tend to be in style this is still one of my favorites. The light for the face is exceptionally bright and just looks cool. I enjoy wearing it on weekends and my wife and 7 year old son can wear it as well because the strap has so many holes. It looks like there are a number of wrist bands to purchase and from other manufactures but I haven't tried any of them as they don't look to be exactly the same which is important to me because it looks like they won't be able to be worn by such small wrists.

In general I feel like this is a great watch that will last for many years with little to no care and also a decent amount of abuse!

4.0 out of 5 stars Large-Sized Watch, So Treat It Accordingly

I was interested in this model because I like the idea of seeing large-sized analog numbers to look at what time it is. Too early from the day of receiving it to tell if the battery will last long enough to a reasonable degree expected on this level of timepiece quality. On a woman's wrist the appearance of the watch is somewhat on the manly-looking side due to the size of the face and wristband, so I would wear it mostly to go with very casual fashion (for example, jeans & a T-shirt). Because of the size of the glass face and the fact that there's no protection ring around it I would be careful not to accidently bang the face of the watch on something while wearing it, so I wouldn't wear it during heavy-duty physical activities. I would in that case treat it as a pocket watch. I would also be sure not let it get wet.

THIS IS AN INITIAL REVIEW, hasn’t yet undergone long term testing I’ll report back. Out of the box I was actually supposed how small the watch face itself was.. I am an average size guy average build and the watch face seems small on my wrist. The audible tick of the second hand moving can be both therapeutic and tortures at times just letting you know how slow time is actually moving haha. Fit and finish Initially seems good, watch band is comfortable and leaves plenty of room for adjustment. The glowing feature works great however I wish there were just a little more resistance on the button to Initiate it. I often find me watch glowing when I don’t intend for it to be thus burning through my battery life I’d assume?

Overall initial impressions are 4/5 if the watch face was a smidge bigger probably be a 5/5 I’ll report back later with details as time and abuse take its total on this watch

I recently re-ordered this watch after seeing it on the wrist of a rich, eccentric friend. His being rich has little to do with my re-order; the watch simply caught my eye as a very stylish timepiece on his arm and reminded me of what a great-looking watch this truly is. I ordered this watch many months ago but sent it back, because it does have one flaw (hence my four-star rating instead of five): it is often difficult to tell the time at a glance. On many occasions you have to twist and turn your wrist in order to tell the time, all because of the very stylish but hard-to-see silver hour and minute hands, which are very shiny. If the hands were white, they would be much easier to see, but they would not match the rest of the shiny, silver watch case and therefore would not contribute any style points to this attractive wristwatch. So be forewarned! But don’t hesitate to buy this watch, either, if you like the looks of it. I myself have bought it twice! And I’m keeping it this time. (Speaking of time--it tells great time, too. Has remained right on the money since I first set it weeks ago.)

4.0 out of 5 stars The user manual does NOT come with the watch

The user manual did NOT come with the watch. I had to go online to the Timex website to be certain how to start operating it. What comes with the watch is the warranty, and instructions on how to care for the watch, like not immersing it, don't use it for diving, etc. But no where did it say how to start the watch. The manufacturer must have assumed buyers would just know how to do that.
That being said, the watch face is large, easy to read, and so far the watch works very well. For me, the strap seems a little lightweight for the size and weight of the watch. I only bought it because I'll be attending several no-cell phone permitted events (with all cell phones locked away in thick pouches), and will need to have a watch to at least know what time it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive Yet High Quality Quartz Watch

Timex watches are inexpensive yet high quality. The second hand lines up exactly with the markers on the chapter ring. I've seen Swiss made watches costing three times more that don't have this level of quality.

Bold numbers and thick black hands on a cream dial make this watch super easy to read: easier than many larger watches. Small size is light and comfortable.

No date complication, however the Indiglo built-in night light is crazy awesome. Nylon strap is comfortable and easy to replace if it's ever needed.

Water resistance is good, yet the general recommendation is don't swim with a watch unless it has a 100M (330 feet) or higher rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Reasonably Sized
Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2016

The Weekender is a simple, unassuming watch. I like it quite a bit. The band is soft, yet seems durable enough that it won't fray on the sides anytime soon. I do hope the holes on the band don't stretch out with extended use, though. In wearing it less than a month, it seems the typical hole on the band I fasten the watch with is starting to stretch.

The size of the watch, for me, is just right. The face is about an inch and a half wide. This was a great in-between sized watch face--not so small as some women's watches that it loses it purpose of being easily readable, but not so big that it is obnoxious or at risk of getting stuck in a jacket sleeve. I've included a photo just for proportional size reference--my wrist is seven and a half inches around, which most consider small.

The olive colored band is neutral enough that it doesn't run the risk of clashing with most of my clothing. I like that I have the option of getting other watch bands, too. I'll probably pick up a few in the near future, but the quality of the aftermarket bands seems questionable based upon the Amazon reviews I have read thus far. I mention this in case you were looking for a watch that has lots of readily available band options, as I thought initially. You might look a little further, first.

The last thing I will mention is that the operation of the second hand, in quiet settings, is easily noticed. I like it's steady ticking, but my wife, sitting a few feet away on the couch, for example, has remarked that it is "loud."

Overall, it's a great, simple watch. And for it's reasonable price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again if I were to break or lose it.

I bought this watch in July 2019 and here it is, two years later, still going strong. It's a simple, straightforward, really sharp looking timepiece that I've enjoyed. To the best of my recollection, I haven't even had to change the battery. The Indiglow works great, too.

My one quibble with this watch is that is loud. Like... really loud. It's currently about 3 feet away from me on a table, and it sounds like the beating of the old man's heart in The Tell-Tale Heart. In fact, I sometimes have to put it in a drawer because it can be distracting.

With that said, it's still a great, reliable watch at a really affordable price.

Nice looking watch for the money. I was really looking for a new band for my Timex Expedition watch. This came up and seemed reasonable enough to just get a new watch. I like the dial and red second hand. The design is simple and not overloaded with unreadable dials. I have a skinny wrist and it is hard to get a watch that doesn't slide up and down on my wrist. This isn't perfect, but a bit better than the previous leather band. I wonder if any one sells a band without the pre-punched holes in the band so I could just punch one to fit my arm the way I prefer it. Delivery was exceptionally fast with Prime, but the delivery guy just left it on the steps, visible from the street.

Lastly, I recommend one of the watches with a white or cream face. I ordered a grey face and the backlighting does not look as awesome as in the pictures. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this watch but there’s one thing that I really dislike about it.

First of all, the Pros:

I have super tiny skinny wrists so it’s hard for me to find watches that are big enough to read but small enough for my wrist. This size was just right, it’s wider than most watches I go for but I really like how easy it Is to read.

I love that it has military time! I’m a nurse so it makes keep track of time a lot easier!

The strap is great and adjustable. Just a little heads up for those with small wrists though, there’s nowhere to put the excess end of the strap unless you slip it through the metal holders a second time.

Now for the CONs... or just one CON actually... ITS SO LOUD!! The ticking is very loud that if you’re in a quiet room, it’s very noticeable. This might not bother most people but if you’re one of the few who would be bothered by it, then definitely don’t get it.

Rated it a 4 and it's a good sell. For 30 bucks you debate whether its worth it initially but I'm satisfied with it. The only thing to think about is if your wrist is small, the strap at the end hangs loose. Theres two loops to put it through that normally would hold it down but that's for larger wrist circumference.

That, and the holes punched out are not so strong so are liable to fray after some use.

AND specific to my watch only, that's a piece of hair that's somehow found it's way under the glass and greeted me when i opened it. It's small. But now that I've noticed it it's absolutely driving me mad because it's against the glass. Doesn't look like it'll mess up function, but goodness.

Apart from hat, great watch. I feel good wearing it. It's a looker.

And yes, the band fits, nicely, and it is leather. Maybe not expensive leather, but that was not the point. Also my eyes are not what they were, with age, and the large size of the watch makes it easy to read. I'm really not that hard to please ... but there are a lot of watches out there that don't please me, and this one really does. I don't mind the ticking noise either.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Simple, Clean-looking, Everyday Watch
Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2017
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
My FitBit died this summer and I decided that I wanted to go back to a traditional wrist watch. After a little bit of research, I decided to buy the Timex Weekender with the olive nylon strap for around $30.
I have had this watch on my wrist for several months now and I have generally been pleased with it. First, I like the size and its clean look. It may look a little small if you are a bigger guy. But for me, the watch doesn't look too big or too small. The watch is easy to read and the indiglo feature works really well for checking the time during the night. While I have not calibrated it, the quartz movement seems to be accurate enough. After a couple of months, I have only adjusted the time once, as it seemed like it lost about a minute after about 3 months.
However, I do have a few small criticisms. First the markings on the dial do not perfectly line up with the hands. This misalignment is not huge, but it is noticeable. Second, while the band is comfortable, the holes for the buckle were all frayed -- almost like the machine that made the holes did not have a sharp enough punch to make clean holes. And while this is not the watches fault, in retrospect I really wish that I would have chosen a model with a day/date complication.
Overall, this watch has been a good everyday watch. I am swapping out nylon band with a leather zulu style brand and I plan on continuing to wear this as my work watch.

The band stinks. Literally. I got it wet and now it smells horrible, and the color has bled out. It also gave me a severe rash on my wrist, and I have triple antibiotic ointment on it and a huge bandage. It must be the dye in the watchband; maybe I'm allergic or maybe it's toxic.

I have ordered a leather band which should get here in a few days and will hopefully not cause a bad reaction. I will just have to be extra careful and not accidentally get it wet!

The only thing I didn't like was the ticking sound that I heard all the time, even when it was on my dresser 10' away. tick tick tick tick. at least I knew it was working. so you're wondering why the 3 stars. We'll this one worked so good that my mil wanted a new watch, just like mine. She had a tiny one that she couldn't see. I even had a hard time seeing it. So I bought the exact same weekender watch that I had. It turns out that we got a dud. It would keep time for about a couple of hours...then slow down...slower.. until after about 3 hours or so, it was off by an hour. We readjusted the watch and tried it again...time is off. We even thought it was her touching or pulling it to adjust. i had this one right next to my other one and the second hand was the same...suddenly off by 1 second. Then when checking it on again, it was off by a minute. Had to return it. I still plan to buy one again, but will wait a bit to see if this was a bad batch or not.

This watch is just so-so. I did end up returning it. Here are a few key features that detract from it's appeal:

1. There is no date. I knew this when I ordered it and normally don't use a watch without it. I thought the Pac-Man theme would be worth the missing date feature - it doesn't.

2. There is no glow-in-the-dark anything. Not the numerals, not the hands. Nothing.

3. The Indiglo on this watch lights up only outlines of the numbers and the background maze grid. That's it. Nothing special with the ghosts - which it would seem logical to do since the other items are outlined in blue with the Indiglo and changing the ghosts to blue outlines would match gameplay. The biggest issue is that the Indiglo is pretty useless on this watch. While the number illuminate a bit, the background stays black making it impossible to see the watch hands.

4. Construction is sub-par with no stainless steel casing parts. A watch with this price tag should have at least a similar, durable construction as an Easy Reader or Expedition.

Overall, this watch was more disappointing than pleasing, prompting an immediate return.

So, yeah... it is the bomb. Or a bomb. I haven't quite decided which. It hasn't blown up on my wrist yet, but I often think it could possibly be any second (pun intended).

First, the watch itself has a great look and feel. I'd say it is for guys with smaller wrists, which is me and why I bought it. It has a good mid-range look to go well with mostly any outfit except perhaps full formal. It feels sturdy enough, the Indiglo does its job well when needed, and the price point is nice enough that if I kill this thing I'm not going to shed a tear.

The one knock on the watch regarding appearance is that the leather band appears much cheaper in person. It's very slim and plastic-feeling, and while it might last a bit, you're probably going to want something better well before it wears out.

THAT SAID...

It sounds like you're wearing a ticking time bomb. Literally. As I sat in the bathroom stall at work, I was genuinely worried if someone came in the next stall they might call for a bomb squad to investigate my stall. If I'm in my office with the door closed, it is all I can hear. I can even hear it over my typing sometimes and I use a clacky keyboard.

It. Is. LOUD.

Time will tell if I get used to this and can keep wearing the watch daily. I'm not sure. It might end up relegated to the drawer as another "occasional" watch if not.

I really like everything about it... except for that loud ticking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch, cheap band

What a great watch and what a poor band. I like everything about the watch except that it doesn’t have a date. It is simple and classic looking.

It’s not too large to be uncomfortable and not to small to look feminine. As an electrician, I don’t like watches that are oversized. Working with your hands all day makes you appreciate lower profiles and light weight. A larger watch is more likely to break from banging it into things.

I usually don’t place a whole lot of value on leather or fabric bands. Because I work in extreme temperatures, a porous band just gets dirty and stinks after a few months. In this case, the nice looking leather NATO strap was a selling point to me. In reality the strap is super thin and looks like bonded fake leather rather than full grain. I knew I’d be replacing it sooner or later, but it looks cheap enough that I threw it away as soon as I tried it on.

I paid a few dollars more for the watch I liked the best. It turns out I could have bought the cheapest one if I’d be replacing the band anyway. All in all though, a decent price for a watch I hope will last.

I've owned other, similar Timex watches. So far they're all super loud, so much that I need to leave them in the other room or my fiance complains.

I was attracted to this watch due to having what appeared to be a NATO strap, which I fit on all of my other watches. This is not a NATO strap, however, as there's no "double back" loop on the back. This means that one day you'll take your watch off your wrist and the face will slide off and hit the floor.

The strap itself is of super cheap quality. Attached are photos after a couple days of wear. The hole and the ends are already fraying. The watch itself has a weird fit, it's as if the strap attachment points need to be lower. I didn't have this issue with my other Timex watches.

I ended up replacing the strap with a $9 one from Amazon and it helps a lot. Just search for a 20mm NATO strap and you'll find some decent ones. I couldn't find a decent one with matching smooth silver buckles, but I did find one with matte silver buckles that matches fine.

The face is silver on gray and is hard to read. The lack of a date display is something I also miss. The indiglo feature is fine, just like any other Timex watches. If you do get this watch, make sure you get the face you like the most, and plan on spending another ten dollars on a real strap.

I ordered this watch because I have one just like it that is old, and the band was too worn. I had no luck finding a replacement band that didn't stretch out after a few weeks, so I decided to just buy another watch like it. I really like the new watch, and thought the band on it would be an improvement because it is longer (so it stays tucked into the "keeper" ring near the buckle more easily) and it has a lot more holes in it (also placed closer together, so you can get a better fit). BUT (big but) I can see that the holes are fraying after only a few days of wearing the watch. Even the holes that aren't used look a bit worn. I think this is just from rubbing against my sleeve, desk, etc. That's a big disappointment. So far, it has not affected fit or wearability, but I'm a bit concerned that it's showing so soon. I wore my original Timex with a woven band for years before it showed signs of wear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Loud, and Cheap Strap
Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2020
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
I really wanted to keep this watch but wound up sending it back. I probably would have kept it if it wasn't so loud. It's not incredibly loud, but for someone like me it was too distracting. Definitely could hear it across the room before bed, across the room when watching TV on low volume and at my office job. Even more vexing is that the tick kind of fades in and out so you'll hear tick-tick-tick, then nothing, then some more ticking.

I got the army green with the cream face. It's tough to tell from the pictures but the outermost ring on the face where the tic marks are is sloped downwards, which gives a cool effect.

Pros:
- comfortable and light construction
- simple, classic style - loved the look, really wanted to keep it
- being on a NATO style strap, the watch face's position can be moved along the strap which was nice for someone like me whose watches tend to migrate to the far side (pinky finger side) of my wrist while the buckle moves more towards the top of my wrist
- easy to read, Indiglo lights it up well

Cons
- loud, inconsistent tick
- cheap, cheap, cheap strap - wore for less than a week and the holes already looking stretched out and frayed from wear
- Indigo goes off immediately after letting go of the crown button, I've seen others with a slight delay which is much nicer to use

So, to begin with, I'll say my preconceived notions were not accurate. I was thinking a "weekender" watch was for things like yard work, or projects & chores around the house. This watch does not fit that description, & the pics don't really show the real finish of the watch. It's too shiny, the band too thin & a little stretchy, & some extra parts that are just in the way. My weekend is cleary not the lazy, fashion filled, bbq attending, millennial norm. Because of the price, I still use the watch. & that makes me the best dressed yard worker ever. I will not be purchasing this watch again though. Weekend socialites, go for it. Guys trying to catch up on things you put off during the week, stay away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very good, strap iffy, some features fail after a year

Updating review after a year: still running and looking new but the lighting face function seems to have died. Not that big a deal since hardly necessary but sad thus feature didn’t last. Oh well. Otherwise, still ticking, though I haven’t given it a licking (yet).

These Timex watches are really fantastic -- great face designs and strap combinations, and a good value for the money. I've bought several and really like them -- look good, get compliments, and they work (at least for now). This specific one with the dark leather strap is ok, but the strap isn't the best quality, and after a few months it's begun to discolor and lose shape. Not a dealbreaker, as you can buy replacement straps like this on the internet with better quality. Just an FYI on this original strap's endurance. I have some of the Timex cloth straps and they seem to hold up well without much degradation in quality, at least for one year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Expect 3 years for Indigo light
Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2021

I've bought this watch 3 times and generally love it. I'm 75 and it's very easy to read, and at $30 it was affordable. I would give this watch 5 stars except that the night light (they call it Indiglo light) fails after about 3 years of use. I wake up in the middle of the night and use the light to check the time. My wife has the same problem with her watch (a different Timex model also purchased 3 times). The watches work fine, but the night light fails eventually. I wanted to post this, because if you need a night light on your watch, my experience says you'll get about 3 years of use from these Timex's.

2.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to see hands
Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2019
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
I am a huge fan of Timex Indiglo watches. I have owned 3 over that past 12 years or so (I am hard on my watches.) The problem with this version is that, in some lighting conditions, it is nearly impossible to see the minute and hour hands. The problem is that the hands are not white, but shiny metallic, and rely on reflections to be visible against the black face. In this photo, I am standing in the shadows and you can't see the minute/hour hands (it is 11:22), yet notice how visible the painted second hand is! Unfortunately, the environment is too bright to see the glow of the Indigo light, so that doesn't help. (It is my impression that with the black face, the Indiglo light is not as bright as with white faces.) I recommend getting a watch with black hands against white. I've been wearing this too long to return it, but will likely retire it and buy a different Timex.

Did an intern design this watch? Not reviewing the movement or reliability of this watch, only the design. The brown/black version (with black face and silvery metallic hands) is incredibly hard to read, depending on where you are, what the light / sun situation is, what room you're in, or the angle of reflection. The silver hands reflect light back at you, like two thin mirrors. This is fine if you're outside. under broad daylight. But if you're inside, or in your car, or holding the watch angled toward you such that the sun doesn't hit it at the exact correct angle, it's like having a watch with black hands against a black dial.

2.0 out of 5 stars OLD STOCK

Color: Gray/Orange StripeVerified Purchase
I purchased this August 10, 2021. I received a watch in a BEAT UP BOX and when I looked on the bottom, it was manufactured in 2019, 2 YEARS ago. The battery was ALREADY RUNNING when I got it, so I doubt it will last as long as I'd like. I am SO GLAD I didn't buy this as a gift! That would have been so embarrassing. I really believe that what I received is USED and resold. There was also nothing to protect the watch face. I submitted this review, but it would not post I guess they don't want someone telling the truth of their experience? Since Amazon won't let me post my review, which includes pictures, I'm posting it on Facebook and Instagram. From now on, I will buy one in the store where I can see what I'm getting. Extremely disappointing.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT water resistant.
Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2020
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
I like everything about this watch, except that it's absolutely not water resistant. It is billed as water resistant to 30 meters. It's engraved on the back of the watch.

I took it swimming in a lake (it was never even two meters deep, let alone 30) and water got under the glass, the light stopped working, and the watch would unpredictably stop running, then start again, then quit again.

I sent it back to Timex because it was still under warranty. It took a long time to get back (months, not weeks), partly because of COVID-19 (not Timex's fault), and because of the hoops Timex made me jump through. Communication was really lacking, so I didn't even know if they'd received my watch for a long time. Then they wanted to charge me (more than the original cost of the watch) until I explained that it was supposed to be under warranty. I did finally get it back, but the process was not worth the sweat.

Last night I was in an emergency situation and dunked my arm in the water--six inches of water for less than ten seconds--and there's water under the glass again. Killin' me, Timex.

I think this watch would be fine IF they didn't claim water resistance to 30 meters. This is the least water-resistant watch I've ever had. It's a shame, I'm pretty attached to it. It's a good looking watch. I don't think it's worth it to try to get it replaced, despite the fact that I got the extended warranty, especially when I'll probably just baptize the thing again in a few months.

2.0 out of 5 stars it looks pretty good- clean and simple with an easy to change ...
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2015
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
I got the Timex weekender for exactly what the name says it should be for- wearing on the weekends, when I don't want to bang up more expensive "suit and tie" Swiss made made timepieces. For the price, it looks pretty good- clean and simple with an easy to change band. It does have some problems though. The face is pretty small at 38 mm, but it's really thick, which gives it a disproportionately chunky look. But the real problem is that it's LOUD. I cant hear most watches unless I hold them to my ear. I can hear this when I'm wearing it, even if my arm is at my side. It's louder than the ambient noise in my office and loud enough to hear when it's stuffed in a drawer. It's far louder than my other timex watches which are themselves louder than "better" watches.
So, despite the nice look and low price, I think it's worth looking into other Timex watches, or even a different brand.
Note: The box said that the movement was assembled in the Philippines, but my other Timex (Camper Watch #T41711) has a Japanese movement. The Japanese movement is much quieter (though still audible). It may be worth checking the movement origin before buying, as it seems there is a difference in quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing lowering of quality and reliance

This 2017 purchase was my second Timex Weekender watch. My first Timex Weekender was very reliable and lasted what seemed for many years and I had full trust in the product when I went ahead and purchased this 2nd one, however, I write this review 2 years after the purchase, now 2019, and I have just bought my 3rd Timex Weekender after the 2017 purchase suddenly lost the time adjuster buttom. It came loose and the watch therefore started loosing time, until at last the adjuster fell out last week. I received my 3rd TW this week and started using it straight away and was very very disappointed to find that in the first couple of days it lost time, up to 30 minutes. I am not on day 4 of wearing it just to check if the problem persists ( and because I have no other watch) and it seems to have worked now for the past 24 hours but I have somewhat lost my trust in Timex. I am also disappointed that My 2017 purchase broke so soon - no product, regardless of price, should break so soon, with normal daily usage.

I liked this watch so much, which is why I was so disappointed when it killed itself.

The strap is slippery nylon, and the buckle prong is so so very short, it would often come undone and fall off. It was only two months before it slipped off over a tile floor;- the watch still keeps the time (or tries to), but the hands spin loose with any movement. I don't know about you, but I move my arms sometimes.

This watch does not want to stay on your wrist, it wants to kiss the floor.

Paid for same day shipping as this was an emergency purchase for work, needed before Monday and working in a medical office. Can't return for refund even though it was late, since a watch is an important piece of equipment for work and need something to get through the week before I have time to find a decent product.

Didnt realize how small the dial is, im sure i read 38mm, but I didnt know much about watches at the time and all the info that is listed under stats, so thats my fault. The movement is so loud it's almost funny, i cringe at the thought of wearing this watch while taking a test like the SAT. All you'd hear is the second hand, TICK..TICK..TICK..TICK.. and everyone would know its comming from your watch. Also, i dont know about anyone else's Timex Weekender, but when i use the indiglo feature, the second hand slows down and ticks like every 1.5 seconds opposed to when not using the indiglo feature, so after each use, your watch becomes more and more off time, not a big deal in my opinion, just thought i'd share. Id still consider buying another timex in the future, just with a bigger dial and better movement preferably, but i cant reccommend this specific watch in good faith, even with it being $40.

Overall I love this watch, the simplicity is my appeal but it hasn't lasted me that long. The first time I purchased this watch was back in May 2018. It lasted me about a month before my little brother stole it and I bought another in June 2018... Fast forward to January and they BOTH died... Oh well I'll buy another one. I bought a third watch February 2019, and it died a week ago July 2019. Overall through 3 watches I haven't had them last more than 6 months.

Idk if I'm unlucky but I can't even reach out to support because their website is always down and I work during their hours of operation. Overall, the watch fits my aesthetic, but the watch hasn't provided the longevity I want.

1.0 out of 5 stars Revised review: about those water resistance claims
Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2018
Color: OliveVerified Purchase
Watch is okay, as long as you're not buying it for the water resistance. Industry designations for water resistance are very misleading: this watch is rated to 30 meters. Who knew that meant it was only intended for water exposure during light rain and occasional handwashing?! The "reasonable person" standard does not apply here (i.e., I'm not scuba diving to a depth of 30 meters, hence this should cover me), so buyer beware! If you're looking for a watch that can actually get wet, research well the industry's water resistance designations (even if you don't live under the sea!) so you can choose a product that will actually meet your needs and not be dissappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Watch I Ever Bought - See Picture!
Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
"Takes a licking and keeps on ticking." Not anymore! A very, very disappointing showing for this once iconic American watch brand. I have an old windup Timex that I had as a kid in the 70s that still works so when I needed a new casual / travel watch with a simple analog dial I decided to give them a try again. After barely a month of gentle usage (e.g., not immersed in water, dropped or otherwise exposed any excessive shock) the lighted dial stopped working - conveniently just a few days after the window for return / replacement expired. Amazon Product Support suggested replacing the battery, but the watch is brand new and supposedly had a 5-year battery and replacing it myself would cost almost as much as the watch did in the first place. Even given given the price point the band is flimsy and showed a lot of wear the first time I wore it. The dial was very hard to read unless outside in bright sunlight because the hands blend into the background. The last straw is that it is NOT water resistant at al, I got caught in the rain a few days ago and you can see for yourself the moisture inside the dial. Tossing it in the trash after only eight months and buying a different brand.

UPDATE*
Timex customer service said they would warranty repair the watch, will update when we have it back in hopefully working order.

Purchased this watch for my son in July and by October it had quit working. Thought perhaps the battery was just out, which would be terrible battery life but whatever. SO took it into a local watch dealer and they tried putting two new batteries into it, still not working. Even tested the voltage of the batteries but cant seem to get this little watch working.

Pretty disappointing for just a few months to have it not running, needless to say my son was very disappointed. So we purchased another one from Timex so he had "his big boy watch" working. Hopefully number two doesn't end up like the first one a dead after just a couple months.

All that said, the watch is actually very nice looking in my opinion. Simple and very clean, perfect for small wrists. The nylon band is fairly soft and my son loves wearing it. I will update this review after I speak to Timex customer service this week about repair or repalcement, hopefully they can take care of this for us. I HOPE that this is just a lemon, but seems a lot of the other one start reviews are saying the same things. Quit qorking after a few months, eats batteries wont stay running.

I've owned a number of Timex watches in the past beginning in 1964. This one was attractive, large enough numbers to easily read, and the built-in light for seeing the time when it's completely dark. As I was flying to Ireland and wanting to change the time from Eastern Standard to Ireland's time, The stem pulled out completely. Now the built-in light no longer works and it's very tricky to find the exact spot to place the stem to change the time.
I wish it had done this in the return window, but of course it didn't. I invoked the warranty and decided to pay to get it fixed. Although I had registered my watch when I bought it, I still had to download the Amazon invoice as proof of purchase. At this point, you go on the timex.com website to print a label for shipping it to them. A bit of confusion on whether I should include an $8 check (nothing is proofread these days for consistency). A couple weeks later a new watch arrived. At least I think it was a new watch -- it was shipped from the Philippines and I had sent it to Pennsylvania for warranty.

Then my indiglo stop working after about 3 weeks. I was getting condensation and then after about 10 weeks the watch was completely dead. 99.99% of the time, I do not write poor reviews, but I don't want someone else to be fooled by how good looking this band is in the picture. The minute that I opened the box, I immediately knew I would be returning it. The band is that cheap faux leather. As a matter of fact, I saw a comparable watch at Walmart for 9.99!!! Literally, it was the exact same looking watch, it just wasn't a Timex. The watch display was night looking, but I am not going to spend another $15-20 dollars to get an actual leather band. So, I'm returning it and will get a different watch without a generic band.

TLDR: Cheap faux brown band. Terrible. The actual watch display was nice.

They said because the watch is so cheap it doesn’t make sense to repair it. So yea, not the end of the world, but it’s pretty disappointing. It’s so cheap I’m tempted to buy another one, but I don’t think I want to do that, nor can I recommend it. Maybe it was just a lemon, but still. Also to the noise, this watch it was pretty loud. I could hear it from across my bedroom at night. It didn’t keep me up or anything; I don’t mind the sound of ticking. But if you think it would be an issue for you I’d recommend looking elsewhere

The watch was not working when it arrived. The instructions that came with it was in the tiniest font. Did not tell you how to start it. There was a plastic tab that appeared to be between the watch and its back cover. I thought maybe it was to pull out to allow battery contact. Nope, it just broke off. Went to there web site and the watch was not listed - at least I could not find it. While fooling around with it, I did something to the crown, and the watch started. This after a half hour of frustration. At the point I don't care if the thing breaks. I am disgusted with it and will never buy a Timex EVER.
