'm a busy college student and this is the perfect watch. It's smaller than I perceived in the picture, however, I'm not disappointed. It matches everything that I wear which makes it the perfect watch for someone not interested in having an extensive selection to decide from in the morning. Also, I can finally tell someone what the date is when they ask with this handy, little watch's date keeper!

professional looking watch to allow me to easily obtain heart rates
Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2015
Color: Honey Brown/Gold-ToneVerified Purchase
I am a vet student, and wanted a simple, professional looking watch to allow me to easily obtain heart rates, etc. without having to pull out my cell phone. This watch fits the bill perfectly. Small and delicate, yet easy to read. Very lightweight and comfortable to wear... I hardly even notice I'm wearing it. The second hand actually "ticks" with each second, which I like... it doesn't move continuously like some watches I have seen. This makes it a lot easier to count seconds. The date display is handy, but you do have to remember to reset it every month. Indiglo lights up the entire face of the watch for easy reading in the dark.

The only thing I wish were different about this watch is that there are so many notches between the numbers on the display that they are pretty much useless... I would prefer that there were 5 notches for each section to make it easier to read the minute hand. Personal preference, though.

I disagree with the reviews complaining that this watch has a child-sized wristband. I found it to be pretty average. I am in my mid 20s and have a somewhat slender wrist, but by no means is it pencil thin, and I fit comfortably in the third or fourth setting from the smallest. At the largest setting, I can easily slide the watch over my whole hand. If you are a woman with an average build, this band should fit just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT watch for average-size wrists (measure if you have a larger wrist)
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2016
Color: Brown Croco/Gold-ToneVerified Purchase
Have worn this model and loved it for many years. It's lightweight, doesn't get in the way and keeps time perfectly. When the band finally started wearing out at the same time the battery finally gave out I decided to use an Amazon gift card to get a new one for free (if I hadn't had the gift card I'd definitely have replaced band and battery on the old one because I love this watch so much). I have worn it while gardening, exercising, doing all kinds of DIY projects and it has held up to all kinds of banging around. It has gotten splashed with water numerous times from the garden hose and once accidentally dropped in the goldfish pond for 30 minutes and lived up to the Timex "keeps on ticking" motto.
My new watch looks identical in every respect to my old one, for once it seems a company has kept a good thing going. It's keeping perfect time so far (6 weeks) and on close inspection I can't detect any signs of cheapening/substitution in the manufacturing from my old one.
It's a pretty, classic design, watch face size and shape are perfect for my taste, not too big or too small, and the font used for the numbers is very attractive so I don't feel like such an "old lady" for wanting an "Easy Reader" watch.
Some commenters write that the band on the current watch is shorter than older versions, attaching photo of my old (10+ years) and new ones, length is exactly the same on mine.
Some commenters write that the watch band is too short, period - laid out flat band + watch + buckle = 8 inches. Fastened using the second hole from the end the circumference of band + watch = 7.5 inches, so if your wrist is on the larger/thicker side I do recommend you measure your wrist and current watch before you order. I have a 6 inch wrist and buckle on the 3rd or 4th hole depending on what I'm doing.
Some commenters write that the band is too stiff - if you've had this watch before, the new one feels exactly like the old one did when you started. It is a bit stiff at first (hey, for this price I don't expect glove leather!) but after a month it's already getting a lot more flexible day by day just as the old one did, just needs a breaking-in period. Working the band with your fingers a bit every day before putting on and after taking off speeds up the process, massaging in a drop or three of Lexol speeds it up too. Again, I'm fine with that for this price!
All in all I'm super-happy to find that this is the same pretty and practical watch I have loved for years. Thank you Timex!

Loving this watch! The description lists the red watch has having a larger face but I think that is a typo. The face is the same size as a quarter.
It is very dainty. I have a small wrist and it fits great -it could even go down 3 more notches!
The red is actually more of a burgundy/brown.
The watch ticks quietly.

I have always had a Timex watch for as long as I can remember. They hold up their value over time. They rarely wear out but eventually I end up replacing my watch. I got this one a while ago and I never take it off. I wear it in the shower every day and it never fails me. I need the Indiglo esp in the middle of the night and the light helps so much. The battery lasts a long time. It holds up to most outdoor adventures. When I was younger I used the date feature often but now that I am older and my eyesight is not as keen, I never use that feature, since I cannot see it. Lots of people these days rely on their phones to tell them the time. Lots of people wear Fit-Bits to tell them the time. I feel like the old fashioned watch not only makes a fashion jewelry statement but it is my go-to for telling time. the numbers on the watch face are large enough for me to see even without my reading glasses. That is my favorite feature. The leather band does tend to wear out if you shower in it every day but so far, I have not replaced it. I like the leather look although I have had the silver/gold plate bands in the past and they, too, were very stylish. I highly recommend this watch.

I wanted a good, brown leather watch and I am still very pleased with this one. The indiglo light is very useful for me, like when I wake up in the middle of the night or when I'm watching a movie at a theater. I had to replace the originial leather strap, but I soak my hands in water a lot at work, and so, I can understand that the strap would not last me a very long time. But the watch itself works perfectly even after several years of wearing it daily. The date is too small for me to see, but that is not a defect on the watch. I need reading glasses. This watch is more expensive now, but it has worked very well for me and I would recommend it.

Purchase date is wrong. I bought this in December of 2019, after hours of research, for a woman both hard of hearing (no audible watch) & with macular degeneration. It was perfect for senior day care. Unfortunately, the band is already broken. I knew that a cheap watch would probably have a cheap band but I expected to last more than a month. Bad!

UPDATE - Sorry, the band did not break; the keeper did. I would have asked Timex for a replacement but the receiver seems not to handle the buckle well, which may have caused the breakage in the first place. We're reordering an expansion band. She loves the watch - big face, dark hands, nothing extraneous (words, number, Roman numerals, etc.) It's everything we'd hoped for!

My husband has worn the Timex Indiglo watches for years, and he swears by them for their dependability,
Until I saw one on a website searching out "best of" items, I didn't realize the 'same type of Timex watch is also available for women.

This watch is small and feminine-looking, even though It is quite plain: black leather band with a black face and silver casing.
It has a thin band, and the numerals are printed in an old-fashioned style.
The face, though small, is easy to read, and I really like the feature of pressing the stem to get a beautiful blue glow for viewing the face in the dark.

My wrist is small, but the watch adjusts to fit comfortably. It can be adjusted to fit almost any woman's wrist.

I highly recommend this watch for the well-known reputation of the Timex brand, and also for the styling of the watch itself ,which is both feminine and utilitarian..

I adore this watch and have had 3-4 over a couple of decades (I am a watch killer). Love that I can read the time on dark airplanes, train cars, live performances and hotels during travel and entertainment. I have gotten this "somewhat" wet more times than I can count. Keeps on ticking. I had to replace it this time because I can't go out during COVID to get the battery replaced on my old one, but I have it set aside for "life after pandemic." I have had high-end watches I didn't like half as much. Easy to put on and off, easy to read, practical. I am a "gold" not silver person and am happy that option is still available in this model.

This is a replacement watch for me, the exact same one I've been buying / using for years. It's reasonably priced, pretty durable, very easy to read (except for the date box which is rather small) has the second hand sweep, lighted dial and is water resistant. When laid flat the overall size of the watch and band to the end of the clasp is 9 inches - which is rather big for me. I have a very small wrist (6 1/2 inches) so the only "complaint" I have is that there is no choice of watch band sizes. It would be great to get a watch with all of these features along with a smaller size band that doesn't have a lot of excess.

I bought my original Timex Indiglo watch 8-10 years ago. I wish I knew exactly. I couldn't afford it at the time, but, I loved the look if the black face and black band, so I charged it on my credit card. I always felt as though that was the only jewelry needed on my left hand. But, I bought several black and silver rings to complement it. Recently, I was unable to get a black watch band for it at my local store, so, I put a silver stretchy band on. Looks nice, but, not the look I want. I found this new watch on Amazon Warehouse, and so far it seems to work. Plus, I can see the date numbers better After midnight I will see if it changes the date. I am disabled, and this adds beauty to my drab life! Update, the watch is still going and keeping the exact same time as my old Timex.

I love this watch. I have repurchased this watch every 18 months for the past seven or eight years. The reason for the repurchase is that the battery stops and I don’t have the tools to replace it. I give it away with a note that says it needs a new battery and get a new watch, exactly the same. I love this watch because it is easy to read. There are numbers instead of lines or marks to tell the time. I like an analog watch because I am older and can more easily know what time it is by the position of the hands on a clock face rather by seeing the time digitally. I also have a thin wrist and need a band that has a buckle. I like to wear a watch so I can glance down to see what time it is rather than having to fumble with a phone. I hope Timex continues to make this watch.

You may be thinking, WHAT?! You've bought 3 of these? How can it be that great? Well it is, I'm just hard on watches. And it's not Timex's fault! I love the larger face, and the Indiglo feature. I don't use the date feature of it because I can't see it since it's so tiny so I don't care it struggles with February and the two 31 day months in the summer back to back. The last one of these I had still works, and replacement bands are cheap and easy to find. But I replaced the battery and when I was snapping the back on it, I did it way too hard and cracked the glass face. I have worn this watch model for MANY years now, and I love it's simplicity and ease of reading it even without my glasses on. I hope they never stop making this one! I'm hooked!

Over the last 30 years or so I think I've purchased three of these Timex watches. The price has gone up a bit, maybe 25 percent or 30 percent over all those years. It tells time. It is analogue. It has a little blue light. The straps are pretty good quality. I purchased the red leather this time. For Christmas I bought my daughter an smart watch from Apple and it cost just under $500.00. I would never use all the additions on a smart watch but being 72 years old I don't want all that but want to have a watch on my wrist and when I look at it I want it to tell me what time it is. This watch does that. Over the years, though, every one of them ends up with a moisture stain in the inside and the indigo light stops, so I do not rate the water resistance high. I don't know why Timex doesn't fix that. This one is brand new. So for now it is perfect.

anymore it's a nitemare to find any store that will change the battery or the band when they peter out....so for the price, these last me about 2-3 years and then I'm ordering another one. Previously, Penney's wouldn't put in a new battery unless I could prove I had bought the watch from them. Yeah...that store has closed now. Love this watch. Just press the button on the stem for light and no glasses required to read the time in the dark. Most watch bands require links removed by the jeweler, but this leather band works just fine on my small wrist. Timex has a system of installing the battery, but keeping it inoperable until the watch is unpacked and started by the user. So you get a fresh battery in spite of the time on the shelf. Getting it all started couldn't be easier.

This is just one of many Timex watches I have owned over the years. As I wear watches 24/7 the Timex water resistance proves to outlast the fancy prettier ones. Clear readable numbers is important. The indiglo light feature is just plain handy and very missed in the last Timex which was selected for watchband instead of light. Eventually after hundreds of showers (some swimming) condensation builds up under the crystal...still works but more difficult to read. But at $30 I can easily replace. All other parts of Timex watches (band, springs, clasp) are durable as well. I really depend on Timex.

My everyday watch's battery died during the pandemic, and I didn't particularly want to go to a department store to shop for a new battery or watch, so I checked Amazon and bought the Number One Best Seller, which everyone seemed to love. I now do too. The band is a little stiff and it is a little tough to get the end of the band through the loop (note: my wrist is probably smaller than most so there is more band to insert), but other than this stiffness, it is a terrific watch for every day. East to read, comfortable, and so far very accurate. I also love the light, but am not using it more than necessary because I think it adds to battery wear. I loved this watch so much, my sister promptly bought one for herself. It's nice to have something go right in the middle of a pandemic.

I purchased this identical watch approximately 5 years ago and it has seen better days so I just purchased this replacement. My wrist is 6" around and the band is comfortable with 5 openings left to extend the closure, 3 spaces left to shorten the closure. The watch is very easy to read, displays a clear date (also easy to read) and a great backlight that is perfect for checking the time in low lighting. I know from experience that the band will soften over time but will last for roughly 5 years, if I get the same wear out of this one as I got on my last one. I wear it into the shower all the time with no problem. The leather band has never caused any irritation at all and dries quickly. Although it's inexpensive it does not look cheap. Great purchase.

I purchased this watch to use during the nighttime so I could see the current time. It is my third replacement watch. The watch came in good timing. It was secured in its plastic holder. A small plastic piece was in place around the winder stem so the watch would not be started before I received it. The wristband is short. My 7.25” (19cm) wrist only fits in the very last hole provided on the wristband. I do find that annoying because the watch feels tight and I am unable to tuck the end of the strap into the buckle. It keeps time well. I have not needed to change the time at all in the three months that I have had this watch working. Batteries typically last one year. Batteries can be changed. The cost to do that, however, is high enough that it’s better to just buy a new watch when your battery runs out. By that year’s end the leather strap is worn down and it needs replacing as well. I obviously would buy this watch again. Next time I will definitely look for a luminous watch with a longer wristband!

This is a really great, simple watch; exactly what I was looking for! I'm glad I went with the "female" version of this, I almost bought the men's and it would've been too big on me. Everything about it works great, I'm still figuring out the date, I set it yesterday and this morning it hadn't changed to the new day, but I set it again and we'll see if that does the trick, you can't choose am or pm so maybe that was all it was. The Indiglo light is perfect! I wanted something that lit up the whole face, not just the hands, and this is exactly what I was hoping for. The band is a little stiff, but I think that will loosen up over time. The only part that's true to the reviews (unfortunately) is the ticking is a bit loud. Setting it face down at night does the trick, but you can hear it in a quiet room, or when I'm in my car and music isn't playing. If you push on the glass slightly you can't hear it, so maybe I'll try to makeshift something to muffle the noise, ticking puts me on edge a bit, like I'm racing to finish a test in school. But overall this is exactly what I was looking for and I'm really happy I got it at such a great price :)

hi there, reviewer coming a year post-purchase. I really like this watch. it's small, goes with everything, is comfortable, and relatively affordable. overall would recommend.
some things to know:
-the strap is bonded leather and may separate over time, especially if worn in water.
-the indiglo/light does not work forever. mine stopped working a few weeks ago (june 2021) and I bought this watch summer 2020.
-you will have to reset the 'date' function periodically if you want it to read correctly. if i'm not mistaken it goes through 31 days every time
-the watch buckle rubs off silver onto the watch band. this doesn't bother me because I wear it at the place every day, but may be noticeable if worn in different positions/holes

overall, it's a good watch, but it's not made of entirely high quality materials and may need replacing if worn daily. that said, it still works appropriately in that it stays on my wrist and tells the correct time, and i'm too cheap to replace it, so I will continue to wear it.
tl;dr: it's good and basic with some drawbacks over time

This was a replacement for the exact same watch.

Pros: the indiglo light button allows you to see time in the dark just enough so you don't wake up if you don't need to. The small light also doesn't wake others up. I'm very thin so the size of the face doesn't overwhelm my wrist yet it's easy to read. My previous watch is still running after quite a few years.

Cons: The leather bands eventually wear out (which I replace with fabric ones that feel better on hot days).

Advice: I broke the crystal on last watch trying to put it back together after changing the battery. I thought it needed a new battery because the indiglo stopped working. But, the new battery didn't fix that and it probably didn't even need a new battery.

This is a beautiful classics style watch. I have 5.5 inch wrists and this is the perfect size for my wrist. I'm in my 20's and I think it suits any age. At first, I really thought it would look too old because of the stock pictures. But in person, this watch has clean lines with good contrast in the colors. The gold accents are smooth with a beautiful sheen. The band is stiff but pilable. It doesn't migrate around my wrist during the day which is a problem with other watches I own. The proportions are done nicely and perfectly. The only issue I have with this watch right now is that it ticks so loudly for such a small watch. While my other watches tick, this one is quite noticeable when it's quiet. I think it's because I'm so used to be a quieter tick. But it's still enough to throw me off when the office gets kind of quiet. Aside from that, I think it's a wonderful watch for the price. I know that if I end up loving it and it would need to be replaced, there would always be stock. So all in all, it's $25 well spent.

Edit: I wore this watch daily for three months before I just stopped and forgot about it. The ticking was starting to annoy me. I usually leave my watch near my bed and I would hear it ticking the entire night. If I leave this watch across the room on a desk, I can hear it ticking. I have two other timex watches and they don't tick this loudly. So I gave it up. It looks great and suits my style but I just can't take the audible ticking.

I'm not using the date feature as it's difficult to set and hard to read and I haven't figured it out, but it's good to have if you don't know what date it is! The instructions are minimal, available only on line. It takes a standard battety (check the back of the case). The leather strap is very stiff, difficult to fasten. I almost returned the watch as it stopped working a day after I got it, but it started up again and has been fine since then, a common complaint for this watch. The light is nice to have. And I believe it's made in the Philippines? How long will it last???

As for this watch in particular, it features Timex's signature Indiglo, as well as a date function, on a very simple, very refined, face. Simply put, it looks nice.
As for the leather band, it's a simple "genuine leather" band - note that "genuine leather" does not mean high quality. As a strap, it works. It's a little stiff, but still useable, and replacing a mediocre strap is easy. I'd recommend this watch even despite the leather band.

Ok, here's the story. I have a beautiful watch that I've worn for years, but the battery pooped out AND because of COVID - no watch places were open to get a new battery. I needed a #2 watch for when #1 watch was out of commission. So, I bought this Timex. I've always wanted an Indiglo and the price was perfect. I love this fun watch - EASY to read w/date (no day though). The only complaint/observation is that the watch band is stiff and hard to "slide" though both loops, especially the 1st stationary loop. Hopefully, as the band loosens up it will get easier. If you have trouble manipulating things, it may be a problem. Other than that - I'm glad I bought this watch. :)

I absolutely loved this watch. The light is my favorite part; I use it as a night light when my toddler would wake up. It’s simple and looks really nice.
However, I would think for the price, and being a timex watch, it would last longer than it did. The battery lasted a little over a year, I had just replaced it a couple months ago. But, slowly the watch started to come apart. One of the little straps to hold the band down fell off, then the other broke not long after. The extra length of the band was curling up and started looking pretty worn. Then finally I noticed the actual band was ripping and before I got a chance to try and repair it, the watch fell off and I didn’t notice.

Overall, I love this watch, so I will be buying another, but I wish it lasted longer.

I had another basic watch like this one, also a Timex, which finally quit working and wanted another like it. This one fits the bill well, with the exception of the band. I found this band to be rather stiff, and also short in length. I have a small wrist and have to use almost the largest length of this band for the watch to feel comfortable. Anyone with a larger wrist will have a problem with it. The band is also too stiff, as I mentioned earlier, not the softer leather-like flexible band of my older watch of the same brand. But, all in all, this is a good very basic watch for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars NIce little watch - not sure I'd bother with date function - "instructions" (only available on website) are useless
Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2017
Color: Black/Gold-ToneVerified Purchase
Just got this last Wednesday (04/19/2017), but so far seems to be a nice little watch for the money. Press the stem for backlight. Pull the stem full out to set time. There's an intermediate stem click to set date (not easy to access, and you'll need to do this every < 31-day month). Date display is microscopic (need reading glasses AND a magnifying glass for these old eyes). Since there's no AM/PM indicator, when initially setting the date, you don't know if it'll change at noon or midnight. I had to manually advance the time to make sure the date switched at midnight.
The printed sheet that comes with the watch only contains warranty disclaimers - no instructions for setting the date or anything else. Have to go to the website for instructions - which don't specifically address any particular model or set of features - it's a PDF smorgasboard for a whole range of "somewhat" similar Timex watch models. Really? Too costly to even create an instruction PDF covering models with the same functions? Not very helpful.
Anyway, Mom likes it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, date DOES work

This is a cute, comfortable basic watch, but for for some reason the date will not automatically change on mine. I will probably be returning it for this. I set the date, but it still says the date that I first got it. It seems to keep time fine and the indiglo works perfectly. Received in new condition.

EDIT: OOOOK. Let's chalk this up to user error and a small watch quirk. The date does in fact change between 10 and 2. However, its between 10am and 2 pm for me, so short of just remembering that before say, 2pm, its actually one day later, the date is wrong until then. Or turning off the watch overnight for a day. But watch works fine. I will be sending back the replacement that is currently in the mail. Updated to 4/5 stars, as I could find no indication that that is how it worked.

I bought this watch on December 2, 2015. Two months later it stopped completely. I contacted Timex. They sent me a prepaid label for sending it back. I sent it back. About three weeks later they sent it back to me, repaired, they said. No charge.

It worked for about a week and then started gaining about a half hour every hour. On April 26, 2016 I phoned Timex. They said they would send me a new one, along with a prepaid label, and when I receive the new watch and label, I should use the prepaid label to send back the old one.

The watch is pretty and easy to read. But it has not been of much use so far.

------------------

After writing my customer review up to this point, a customer service representative from Timex wrote me to apologize for the problems, and told me that I was to contact him directly if I had further problems.

The new watch arrived on May 2, 2016. No charge. I used the prepaid label to send the old one back. Because Timex was so reasonable, I changed my rating from one to two stars.

I will update this review in two months or whenever the watch fails, if it fails before the end of the two months.

-------------------

Update: the new watch was still working as of July 4, 2016. My wife likes it. So I have promoted it to three stars.

I will update this review in two months or whenever the watch fails, if it fails before the end of the two months.

---------------

The watch is still working as of September 10, 2016, so I updated my review to four stars.

My wife likes this watch because it is so easy to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Timex women's Indiglo Easy Reader Quartz Analog Watch reasonable, casual

The Timex women's Indiglo Easy Reader watch has a clear, legible face & simple, attractive leather strap. I bought it to replace a Casio plastic watch which had cost less & was water resistant but broke easily. The Timex looks more respectable than the black plastic Casio. I would not risk wearing the Timex if I knew I'd get wet, but it is OK to wear under my latex gloves when I wash dishes. The Timex is a casual every day watch that I can wear when walking my Labrador retriever with no worry about damaging an expensive watch.

I like the design and visability of the watch and it's easy to put on and off. However, even after going on-line to find out how to set the date, I can't get it to set. You have to use the pull out know, but only half way. No matter how I try I can't get it to stop at the right place to change the date. I have limited function in my hands and I just can't do it. That's the only reason it doesn't have 5 stars. But I didn't buy it for that feature, so I don't care. However, anyone hoping to use that feature may have a problem.

I love the simplicity of the design and its size - small, compact, easy to wear. Not a big fan of flashy watches, I just want them to get the job done. Timex is just a solid company, I've had watches from them the last seven years. Always been happy with the product.

But after wearing daily for nine months, there have been a few problems. 1) The date stopped working. I will program the watch for the correct date, but it won't correctly change after 24 hours; it stays on the date it's set for. 2) One of the two holds for the band broke off. Luckily there's still one. Despite these flaws, I still really enjoy wearing my watch daily. Hopefully it has another year of good wear.

EDIT - This watch held up for about a year and a half with every day wear. I feel good about it. Am looking into purchasing again.

I wanted a small, simple watch that would help me stay off my phone to check the time. This one is pretty good! Minimalist, easy to set, readable numbers, and you can press the button for a nice glow if it’s dark. There are two things that bother me a little:

-The date. I feel like it’s kind of pointless because you have to reset it before the end of every month. Just seems unnecessary.
-It does tick kind of loudly. Only bothers me if I happen to be in a very quiet space, but if you have sensitive ears it could be an issue.

For the most part I do really like it though, it does its job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Small but readable watch
Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2015
Color: Black/Silver-Tone/BlackVerified Purchase
This is a small watch with a narrow black leather band. For the size of the face, the watch is very readable so it maximizes background and silver numbers and hands. That is Indiglo is helpful in low light situations.

For the price I'm happy with the watch. The only drawback for me is that, although I have a small wrist, there is a significant "tail" to the watchband when fastened and the dual leather straps which are often moveable to hold the strap in place, is not moveable and very close to the buckle. Thus, unless you have a large wrist and are using only the first hole or two to fasten, the remaining tail just sticks out away from the band, gets caught in long sleeve top, and often makes the watch rotate around the wrist and needs to be repositioned to view the face, unless you tighten band to an uncomfortable level. Have never had that issue before and this is a long explanation of a minor flaw. I expect the watch to work well for a few years.

PROS:
*Its waterproof, i prepare for my prayers and i hv to wash my arms till my elbows everyday almost 3times a day with the watch on, but it hasnt stopped working.
*I like the indiglo feature in it, love it.
*Decent size and extremely light weight which means it doesnt bother me at all even though i dnt take it off at all.

CONS:
* the only con is that its loud. MY GOD ITS THE LOUDEST WATCH IV EVER SEEN. its ticking gets on my nerves sometimes esp when im abt to sleep. And when i say loud it means, even if im watching tV, i can still hear it ticking, i read the reviews and some of the buyers have the same complaint. If only it wasnt that loud, it wudve been da best casual day to day wrist watch for me.
* also im wondering what happens to the date when the following month doesnt have 31st?

Still, i love it and if it stops working, i will get the same again.

This watch is...okay, for what you pay for it. I've had it for a few months now, and my thoughts are as follows:

PROS:
- Strap is holding up well despite everyday use. No chipping in the material yet.
- Love the small size and versatility with different outfits

CONS:
- This is the loudest watch I own. I've never owned something that ticked quite this loudly.
- THE STUPID DATE. This watch will not keep the date properly. A fair warning to you: if you have to adjust the date for whatever reason (particularly when it lists the "31st" in a month that only has 30 days), ONLY adjust the date by spinning the knob at its outermost setting clockwise/counterclockwise and going past midnight in whichever direction you need it to go, instead of using the "quick date" function with the knob's middle setting. I did the latter, and now this watch won't change the date on its own anymore via the 24 hour cycle. Manually changing the date every day myself is ridiculous, so I've just accepted that the date on this watch will only be accurate once a month.

The bottom line is that I think I'd get another Timex watch in the future, but I wouldn't get one that reads the date ever again.

I've owned this same watch a few times over the years but lost my beloved watch in my last move. This time, the strap it came with was definitely not leather. It was stamped "Genuine Leather Upper" but leather doesn't peel off like stretchy paint like this did. In nobody's imagination could what I received be mistaken for leather. It also develops a smell ridiculously fast (think "the inside of batting gloves"). I love the readability of the actual watch body and how reliable they consistently are. The indiglo is great. The watch body itself can't be faulted, but the strap I got this time sucks. I ordered a replacement band from another manufacturer.

Color: Black/Silver-Tone/BlackVerified Purchase
I didn't write the review when I first received the watch last year, but now that I'm ordering parts, I thought I would take the time to let you know how the watch has performed over the last 16 months.
Pros:
I love the black dial and the indigo works great. The general look and feel is what I expect from an inexpensive Timex. I love the easy read dial.

Cons:
The black disc for the background was not installed properly on my watch. I thought about sending it back so it didn't drive me nuts, but I didn't. It still bugs me.

The date is very hard to set. I've given up keeping it updated because I can't really read it easily anyway.

The watch band came unglued where it wraps around the pin on the watch itself. It lasted 16 months. Maybe this is a good amount of time on a band - I'm not sure. I'm ordering a replacement watchband now for $8. It looks like the replacements are stitched where the one that came on the watch is glued.

Summary: I love Timex Easy Reader watches and this is the third I've owned. The black dial is awesome and so is the indigo. The band is cheaply made and the quality control didn't catch the manufacturing error with my background disc. Date is too tiny and very hard to set.

3.0 out of 5 stars This has a LONG watchband
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2020

I have an average wrist size. This is a LONG watchband and this is not made clear in the writeup. So if you have average bone structure / wrist size, either be prepared to buy a watchband to replace the one it comes with, or it will be sticking out and catching on a mulitple of things, flipping your watch around to the other side of your wrist, and otherwise being a nuisance. (See photo) The extra loop around the band that is movable is no help in preventing this - if you push it out to the end of the band, it just loses it's grip on the strap and you're in an even worse situation. I only gave this a three because the watch itself is attractive and readable. So the message to watch sellers is this - PROVIDE WOMEN WITH STANDARD SIZE WATCHBANDS FOR AVERAGE WRISTS - STOP TRYING TO MAKE THEM ONE SIZE FITS ALL!!

I have bought this watch multiple times over years and have always loved it. It's water proof enough that swimming has never affected it. It's dressy though to wear to work but I can still wear it while hiking, gardening, and for lake/river days. When the battery dies I'm able to replace it but can't trust the seal on the battery, so when the band gives out (approximately 2-3 years) I just buy a new watch that I can trust to be waterproof. But the band on this one seems different, like it's not leather. And it's very stiff. The holes seem to be in different places because it's too loose on one, but too tight on the next one. I might try to find a different watch next time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Classy, but face & numbers are much smaller than appear in picture
Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2020
Color: Honey Brown/Gold-ToneVerified Purchase
I needed a smaller plain watch that had a built in light, and "Indiglo" has always made it very easy to read the time. So I purchased this, wanting a watch in goldtone. That it had the date built in was a bonus.

The watch itself is a good size. What I didn't count on was just how small the watch face was - granted, I wear glasses for reading, but... trying to read the date (even with my glasses on) without a magnifying glass is impossible. Yes, the date is that tiny. The face numbers are a bit on the small size, not as large as the picture depicts. Thankfully, the hands are large enough that even not being able to see the numbers clearly without my glasses, I can tell what time it is, both in regular light and with the Indiglo.

So, for the money and the fact that it is a Timex, it's worth the purchase even though I can't read it as clearly as I would have liked. They just missed the mark labeling this an "Easy Reader"!

Edit:
Less than a year after buying the watch the date stopped changing, it dot stuck and it doesn't change when time goes by nor when trying to adjust manually.
I contacted Timex and they did agree to repair, all I would need to do is pay for the shipment (both ways). The shipment both ways will cost close to buying a new one. I am disappointed it lasted for last than a year.
I do like the watch overall and will try to repair it at a local store if it won't cost as much as buying a new one.

I thought about giving it 4 starts since overall I like the watch and since timex did offer to repair but then I read other reviews talking about a similar issue with the date so I understand it's not too uncommon to experience problems with this watch less than a year after purchase.

Original:
Good watch. I thought it was larger but that's my mistake. I wear ut almost every day. Easy to read and light works great at night time.
It says it is waterproof but I wouldn't test it with the leather band (it being waterproof does give me some peace if mind when I wash my hands).

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch...band breaks easily
Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021
Color: Black/Silver-Tone/WhiteVerified Purchase
The watch looks and behaves exactly as promised. The problem is that you have to buy a new band about every 7-8 months. It's not the leather that wears out; the issue is the poor construction of the strap. The glue (yes *glue*...not stitching) that holds part of the strap pieces together always wears off and the thing falls apart. A watch is something you wear everyday. It really should be more durable than it is. I mean, its not an expensive watch. So i'm not mad about it. But (...get ready for old person complaint), I really get disappointed by products that seem to be designed to be disposable. I'd pay a few dollars more for a stitched band rather than one held together with glue. I really would.

I’ve been loving having a watch that is suitable for daily wear. I put it on a nylon band for added comfort.

However, the date function stopped working and does not move as it should according to the instructions and online reviews. I haven’t had it for long.

Really disappointing, I’m hoping Timex can resolve this issue.

Update: In January while I was away on vacation my watch strap started splitting. It split into 2 pieces all the way up to where it is buckled. As I said in my original review, I loved the watch and had no problems with it and I wore it into the pool all the time. The only thing was the light would not work anymore and I thought maybe it was because of going into the water so much.
This one I took off each time I got into the pool and yet the band is total trash! I'm deducting 2 stars because now I have to order another band and this should not have happened..

I had purchased this watch many years ago and the only thing that was wrong with it was the band had gotten a tad ratty looking and it was brown. I wanted a black band so got this one and a new band for the old watch to give to my daughter. I also wanted the goldtone face. Oh and the glow light no longer works on the old one, but I did drop it a few times. Anyway, I'm happy with my new Timex. It looks great on my wrist and fits well. The light works well and is a nice feature to have if outdoors at night.

Beautiful watch. Looks just right on my little girl sized wrist.
But as time went on the first leather strap broke. (-one star)
Then the second strap broke! Now I fold the excess underneath (see photo). (-one star)
Also at the hole that I use there is a very visible crease. If someone with a wider wrist wore the watch it would be very obvious. (- one star)

For the name and the $ this watch should hold up for longer then six months. I would take away another star for the fact that once a week or so I lose about 5 minutes time...and the date doesn't keep up at ALL...but I haven't tried to change the battery either so that's on me.

UPDATE:
I loved this watch so much that I bought another one. Lasted about ten months before the band started disintegrating and smelling funky ??

Timex can you just send me a new one every 6-12 months?!

I ordered the watch because I am aging and having trouble with my eyes. I could not get enough light on my old one to be able to read it. I was looking for cheap so I could figured out what I needed. I discovered that this watch is not much better than my old one. The silver numbers on the black band look good and are readable. The problem lies in that the silver hands just disappear into the black background without a lot of light. The light on the watch does not work well so I have had to turn on a light and hold it under the light to be able to read. The band is extremely cheap but I didn't expect much more for the price. I cannot recommend. I am looking for a digital because that would probably work. My problem is that my wrist measures about 4.5" so I have to be very concerned about the band being adjustable. Very disappointed. I have had many watches in my life and many of them were Timex.

Every day, there's a weird black tar-like substance on my wrist and stretchy black strings hanging off the side of the band. Idk what it is made of- if it's plastic or some kind of weird paint- but it says genuine leather and I've definitely never seen leather melt on my skin before. Still a decent watch, I love the light up face- but might find yourself needing a new band sooner than normal.

I bought this watch two years ago to replace the same kind of Timex watch that I'd worn for a number of years. I'd been able to change the battery myself in the previous Timex Easy Reader, although I found it super-difficult - and using the correct tool - to remove the back. I finally gave up on the old Timex and purchased an exact replacement. I really do like the "easy read" face and the indiglo feature, but I'm utterly frustrated with these Timex watches. The time came to replace the battery in my most recently-purchased one. Well, this time and using the correct tool, the back came off like a breeze. Super! I thought...then lo and behold after replacing the battery, I could not snap the back into place again - not for the life of me. The watch ran fine without the back snapped into place, so I held the back in place with tape until I could get to the jeweler a couple of days later. The jeweler checked the battery and made sure I had seated the correct one appropriately - I had. Well, at a cost of $10+ (about a third of the total cost of this watch), the jeweler had to use "the press device" to get the back to snap on. Great! I thought...only to discover that the watch would only run for 3 seconds and then stop with the back on. Reset the time, run 3 seconds, quit; reset, 3 seconds, quit - you get the idea. So I took the back off again, the watch ran perfectly, and I taped the back on again. That should hold me until I can find a suitable replacement watch of a different brand. Really super disappointed because I like everything else about this watch, hence the two-star review rather than a one-star. Don't know what has changed with Timex over the years, but I guess the old adage holds true: They sure don't make things like they used to.

Timex watches are known to have quality watches. That's why I purchased it. I wanted a classic and simple watch to wear and I needed it asap. I got the watch the next day (Prime) and tried it on, adjusted the time and date. I tested the light feature and there was a slight obscurity on the bottom of the watch that blocked the light. It didn't really bother me that much as long as I can see the time. However, as the days passed by, I looked at my watch to check the date. It was incorrect. I thought it was my own mistake of putting the wrong date. So, I fast forwarded the time and sure enough, the date never changed. Usually it's automatic date change. Now, I have to change the date everyday to be current. It's a hassle and nuisance to do that.

Update: the watch stopped keeping time after just a month of use... the hour hand no longer moves. Probably not worth the cost of trying to get it repaired.

I got this to wear to work (I work in a govt office with a business casual dress code). It suits my style quite well (minimalist w/ a touch of 90s); I now wear it with my casual weekend clothes as well. I have tiny, tiny wrists and this watch fits well on one of the tightest holes. The indigo feature is nice. When I ordered it, I didn't realize it had a date indicator, so that's a nice bonus since I can never remember the date. The only reason I marked it down to 4 stars is that the band is thicker and quite rigid where it connects to the watch face, so the face pokes up a bit and doesn't totally lay flat on my wrist. A few weeks of daily wear has not caused it to relax or flatten out. However, for the price paid, it is a quality watch with a cool 90s vibe so I am really happy with my purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lost my trust in Timex watches
Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2017
Color: Black/Gold-ToneVerified Purchase
I've had multiple Timex watches before, each lasting more than 2 years despite numerous opportunities for wear and tear. That is why I bought this one so confidently. Unfortunately, I'm super disappointed by the fact that 3-4 months after I bought it, the battery died, the watch stopped ticking, and the indiglo stopped turning on. I even took special care of this watch and did not subject it to the swimming, dish washing, and scraping my previous watches had gone through and survived (basically any opportunity for wear or tear, to the most possible extent), which was really great evidence of good quality. Having had this watch, however, now I'm not so sure about its quality.

Also, when I got the watch, I don't know if it was a product defect or something, but the indiglo did not light up the entire watch face. There was a semi-circle at the bottom of the watch face that just never lit up. Additionally, the strap isn't that great. Just by taking the watch off, you'll likely make cracks or tears in your leather strap because of how you need to put it on and take it off with the buckle. If I knew this is what the watch was like (just for decoration, and not function w/ a good style - which was what I was looking for), then I would've bought those cheap 5-pack watches or something.

I'm so let down, especially since I've had multiple great experiences with Timex before. A small stain will ruin a completely white shirt, and this is what it's like for me. I don't know if I'll be able to trust Timex now in terms of its quality. If not for my past experiences with Timex, this rating would have been a 1 out of 5 stars.

It's an okay watch. Not quite sure it's worth the money. But it does the job of telling the time - most of the time. every once in a while the time is slow by a few minutes, and at other times by a few hours. And the date can't seem to keep up so I have to keep fixing it.
I'm pretty rough on my hands with my job in tech services and the face of this watch is completely scratched after only 3 weeks of wear.
And because I have a small wrist, the face never sits centered on the top of my wrist because of how small I have to make the band.

this is a nice looking watch for the price. if it works. the time was accurate, but as many have reported the date is off.

by the 2nd day the date was turning at 9pm. that was almost tolerable. but by the 3rd day it was just stuck. amazon was amazing with the exchange. mailed mine back on sat and got a new one today. already as i try to set the date it seems wonky and i'm getting a bad feeling about this. will give the replacement another day. if it's off it's going back for a refund.

This is a a great watch that I bought for my wife. She really likes it. However, the battery didn't exactly last the "up to 10 years" inference. It lasted about 9 months. No biggie, I guess, after all "up to 10 years" is "UP TO ten years" right? Well I just bought some extra batteries from Amazon for future use. Hey, why not? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to change a watch battery. After all, I've done this dozens of times with watches, mostly Timex. I got the back off with a little difficulty, but, I did do it. I put the new battery in and attempted to press the cover back on as in the past. I called Timex and talked to a very nice customer rep. He told me that owners of this watch cannot replace the battery, at home, as in the past. The watch back must be replaced with a special tool at a watch repair store. So, just be aware of this before buying any replacement batteries for this watch. Also, you better hope that your battery lasts more than 9 mos.......as inferred by their ad.

6-13-19. Additional information on the above. I took the watch to a jewelry/watch store in the next town. I explained the above information to the store manager and he took the watch to the repair room to put the back on it for me, using the proper tool. After working on it for at least 20 minutes, he returned and told me that he was not able to get the back of the watch back on. In his expert opinion the watch was defective. Possibly, machined wrong?

A few days, later, a rep. from Timex called to discuss the issue. I told him about the experience with the watch repair store. They offered to pay the shipping and "fix" the watch for me. However, I would have to pay a $9 handling fee in addition to this. This was in spite of the fact that I was within the 1 yr. warrantee window. Since the watch had only cost me $30, I felt that it wasn't worth it. So, being "over the barrel", I declined. I was also concerned that the I would have the same problem again in the future with this same watch, because, it might be defective. Since it was still under warranty, I requested that they just send me another watch. They wouldn't do so. Please think long and hard before buying this watch. I'm sure it's still being made in the same (out of country) place.

Timex is not your father's watch anymore........

UPDATE: While initially this seemed like a good purchase, this watch doesn't keep time at all. I've had it for about a month, and I've had to reset the time twice, the first time it was TWO DAYS off, and now it's 3 days off. It's currently Oct 20th, 3pm, and my watch says it's Oct 17th, 12:15am. This watch looks cute, but it's a complete waste of money if you intend to use it to keep track of time...very disappointing for something that was $30....

Original:
This is a very good watch for someone that wants something simple, without a bunch of bells and whistles. The date feature though takes FOREVER to set, as you have to turn it through all 24 hours for every day until you get to the right one. I wish it were easier to initially set up. Other than that, I've only been using it for about 2 days, but it seems great! A little dainty so I wouldn't get it if you had larger wrists. Thanks Timex (:

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable after one month--UPDATE: OR LESS!
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2018

I like the look, feel, and general appearance of this watch. It's exactly what I was looking for in my job where I need to move from appointment to appointment at 20-30 minute intervals and needing to write the date on paperwork. However, if I leave it in my work bag over the weekend (or longer, if I forget to put it on for a day or two after) I've noticed that the time will sometimes be off (by hours or even days). I've had to replace the battery as well already, after only owning it for a little more than a month (of course outside of the return policy). If I reset the time it seems to do OK all day long, but after a break it (intermittently) has these issues. I'm disappointed in the lack of longevity.

**UPDATE: I cracked the screen after trying to replace the battery a second time, so I decided to try again with a second watch to see if it was any better. The second watch's battery also died very early (within two weeks of wearing it) and it also experiences the same issues as the first watch where it will intermittently stop working if I'm not wearing it. I haven't figured out if it needs to be kept warm (e.g., on my body) or if it's a matter of keeping pressure on the back of the watch face plate to make sure the battery is in the correct contact spot--but either way, I'm disappointed. Again, I love the way the watch looks and feels--but I can't believe they ship these out with batteries that die so quickly. Changing these watch batteries is not a simple task either, otherwise maybe I wouldn't mind as much.
**MORE UPDATE: Amazon replaced watch #2, and watch #3 again died within two weeks when not worn all weekend. Guess I'll be trying a more expensive model and hoping for the best.

1.0 out of 5 stars REVISED REVIEW: Within days I had to return the watch.
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2021

I bought this beautiful watch to replace a very old Timex that was still keeping good time, but whose INDIGLO was no longer working (which may or may not have been due to long disuse because of the pandemic, or something may have happened at battery replacement).

Unfortunately, the watch, which at first I thought to be keeping time, began to lose a lot--like close to three hours over the space of one night. I tested it again, against the time appearing on my iPad, and found it completely useless. What the reason can be, I have no idea. Presumably not its battery, as the watch came with a little plastic thingy on the knob to stop it from running and wasting power. If it was just old--well, the old, very similar Timex it was replacing still keeps perfect time after many years of what you might call tough treatment.

Happily, with permission from Amazon, I was able to return the defective watch very easily at a nearby Kohls, and I still trusted Timex enough to immediately buy almost the same watch there, for about $10 more than the price of the one I returned, thanks to a generous discount from the store. In its first 23 hours on my wrist, it has kept perfect time, and I am hoping and expecting it to be a keeper. Makes me wonder whether the almost identical one I bought here and had to return was a "real" Timex. If this new one should turn out within a week or two to be bad like its predecessor, I will post here again, but I have a feeling that it will be all right. If not, Kohl's also has a good return policy.

I've owned many Timex watches over the years, and realize that they are not top end timepieces. But they were useful everyday watches, and about the time the watchband fell apart the watch would usually die.....several years in.
Two months ago I misplaced my watch; searched, but couldn't find it. So I ordered a replacement. And, of course the truant watch reappeared almost immediately.
I set the new watch aside after wearing it once or twice. Peeked at it once or twice, and it was running. Last time it was off by 20 minutes--I reset the time and it seemed fine.
Today it's dead. Totally, utterly dead. No movement, no light.
Amazon won't do anything because it's been over a month since delivery.
Timex will look at it if I send it back--for an $8 fee. It's in the warranty, they say. Which is great for them, but I didn't have a warranty to look at when I bought the damn thing. And it would be one thing if this were an expensive, quality timepiece, but it's a $30 watch.

1.0 out of 5 stars Remember When Timex was Longlasting?

Remember when John Cameron Swayze said that Timex, "Gets a licking and keeps on ticking"? No, most people don't because you are not that old. Well, this Timex lasted one month. Oh, it still keeps time; it still lights up. But, with one wave of my arm, it flew off and the band broke, with the crossbar lost in space. And, when I go to the "Product Support" website of global.timex.com, the message is that "this site cannot be reached."

One Month...and there doesn't even seem to be a way to complain to Amazon. Very disgusted.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t even bother.

I swear the delivery person threw this watch into my front yard. They completely missed my mailbox and front porch, I had to look around to even find my package. The watch wasn’t even in the box inside the envelope, and it was already on and ticking. The indiglo is missing a patch at the bottom, so the watchface doesn’t light up entirely. I love the size and style of this watch, but the date window stopped working only a couple weeks into daily wear (never exposed to water although it is supposed to be water resistant) and I had to manually switch it every day, defeating the purpose of it in the first place. On top of that, the second hand fell off inside the watchface today while I was wearing it.

Don’t even bother with this watch. I thought timex stood for something, but whatever that is...it isn’t quality or even a product that will last beyond a couple months. This watch may be under warranty, but you will end up paying for shipping to send it in for repair. At that point, you should just go to Walmart and spend $7 on an equally cheap accessory that you can at least return in-store.

Seriously, don’t bother. Absolutely no craftsmanship in this product and a total lack of durability. What a waste, I’m extremely disappointed. Wish I could give 0 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars No more Timex for me!
Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2019
Color: Black/Silver-Tone/WhiteVerified Purchase
I have been wearing Timex watches all of my adult life, and I am 72. Always simple, classically styled, inexpensive and reliable, a Timex was always my watch of choice. That is, until now. I bought this watch in mid-August as a replacement for the one I had been wearing for many years, mostly because the cover had become too hard for the Walmart person to get off. This watch was just as all the other watches had been--simple and classically styled. Unfortunately it turns out it's not reliable at all since it stopped working after 1 month. The second hand kept trying to go around but seemed to get stuck at 12 and kept bumping against some invisible barrier. I tried to contact Timex through Amazon, with no luck since I couldn't even get on their website. Naturally I hadn't bought the warranty since I had never needed a warranty before, but I have to have a watch so went off to Walmart to get a replacement, ending up with a similar Timex. I figured my Amazon Times had been just a fluke. Astoundingly, the Walmart Timex never worked at all, with the second hand doing the same stalled bump that the first watch had done. Luckily, Walmart took it back and refunded the price, so it wasn't a total loss of over $30, but I did have to drive 40 minutes to Walmart. I am disgusted with Timex--I figure they've got some third world country building these things now. No more Timex for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for daily wear, falls apart quickly, day counter lags. not worth it

Update: the watch strap has broken away from the watch face. I would not recommend purchasing this watch if you plant to wear it daily. The day counter lags. Do not recommend for daily wear.

In just one month the underneath of the strap has cracked. It is starting to loose tiny pieces of whatever material the underneath of the band is made of. Inside the band there is a stamp that says Genuine Leather Upper. I am very disappointed in the quality of the "leather band". It is also very loud, my partner regularly comments on how loud it is and he can't believe he can hear it. Doesn't really bother me though I do hear it often throughout the day as well.

Before the strap cracked and started loosing pieces I was very pleased with it. It is a simple watch that tells the time, day of the month, and has a backlight for night time.

1.0 out of 5 stars SECOND TIMEX THAT HAS DIED WITHIN A YEAR!! Do NOT recommend!

I don't know what it is with these watches but this is my SECOND one that has died within less than a year of use! At this point I could have bought a single much more expensive watch during this time and then I might still have a watch that worked. I do not dive. I do not bathe with my watch on. The most water it would ever see is the splashing from hand-washing but both spontaneously quit working. I absolutely do not recommend you buy this. You'd get more enjoyment out of buying a cartoon kid's watch for $10...and that might even last longer.
